Pyjamas - not leggings!

Pleatedforehead · 03/10/2024 22:22

Why are almost all pyjamas leggings now??? Even when they look not leggingish on the packet. I just want normal pj trousers, more of a general rant than looking suggestions. Does anyone find leggings for pjs preferable?
And I don't think it is my general size, I'm not tiny, I'm a fairly average build size 10 but even if I size up all it means is the waist band is loose and they are still leggings shape!

There’s a huge gulf between stretchy and non-stretchy sleeping pants. The wrong amount of cling can ruin my night and cause a battle under the duvet.

Ineffable23 · 03/10/2024 22:25

I buy mine from fat face/ cyberjammies or alternatively fable and eve but they are jolly expensive so I would only buy them in the sale.

TheChosenTwo · 03/10/2024 22:27

I don’t own or wear pyjamas, I can’t wear clothes in bed, the idea of loose flappy clothes tangling me up and trapping me while I do my 500 barrel rolls through the night stresses me out 😂 if I had to wear clothes it would definitely be the leggings shape ones, how do you not get snaggled up in flappy ones?! I can only deduce that not everyone is an aggressive sleeper!

M&S classics tartan bottoms plain t-shirt top they also do just bottoms, even the cotton ones with stretch are a normal non legging fit.

oh but I am chosentwo! But leggings are so sweaty feeling in bed. Definitely stretch has to be built into whatever the pjs are though because the really no stretch cotton ones are almost as bad as feel totally tangled up in them!!

Thanks Myothercar! I have one pair I love from m&s but they're pretty done and the last time i was in they only had fleece or leggings ones and I'm so wary of buying online as they often don't look like leggings in the pictures-good to have a visual of what ones to order!!

Fat face are usually good for wider ones and M&S had some great ones last year

Twoshoesnewshoes · 07/10/2024 21:30

Argh I can’t stand the leggings ones either!

I bought some okay ones from white stuff, but I’m actually wearing some really comfy ones right now - loose leg but not flappy at the bottom, wide stretchy waistband, pockets, slightly stretchy jersey - they are my DDs from Primark!

HollyGolightly4 · 07/10/2024 21:33

Can't stand leggings in bed! M+S have good range of baggy trousers plus short sleeve (my ideal!) in their basic range £12.50, folded on tables in store! Or I got some dreamy ones from Uniqlo last year. Navy with piping and such a comfortable, breathable material.

Pumpkinseason3 · 07/10/2024 21:34

I have some sets from Joules which are lovely and aren’t leggings 😊

FiveLoadsFourLiftsThreeMeals · 07/10/2024 21:35

I have 100% cotton pyjamas from M&S which definitely aren't leggings (fairly wide trousers and shirt style top) and similar shape but not cotton pyjamas from Uniqlo.

PiggyPlumPie · 07/10/2024 21:38

I just bought 2 pairs of "boyfriend " PJs from.Primark. Hate having cuffed bottoms and legging style ones.

ChangeItAgainSam · 07/10/2024 21:51

I have old fashioned pinstriped cotton ones from john Lewis. Normal wide legs!
If you go for a more traditional pair the are likely to be straight cut wide trousers.

bridesmaid1024 · 07/10/2024 22:08

I have loads of pairs of these ones from boux Avenue - normally on sale for £12 a pair at Christmas etc

www.bouxavenue.com/pyjamas/navy-check-matching-pyjamas-in-a-bag/203061_70NX.html?cgid=1000038

Fairly wide and can tie the waist as I like a baggier top to my bottoms :-)

Merrow · 07/10/2024 22:09

Uniqlo ones are great - good pockets, nothing at all legging-like about them.

The M&S ones are just what you need. Size up though.

I'm the opposite I love cuffed or leggings ones! I find the wider leg ones ride up

All my PJs recently have been from Tu. All pretty good and not clingy.

Lands End have plenty of trouser PJs and there is a discount code. They are expensive but they are worth the money - they last 4x as long as anything I have ever had from
m&S or next.

BCSurvivor · 08/10/2024 10:19

Seasalt have fabulous pyjamas, they also sell just the bottoms.
Although some of the bottoms are far too thick to wear in bed as a menopausal hot flusher and are more loungewear.
