Oh wise mumsnet shopping people, I'm sure you can help me.

I need a new coat, like properly need. I have a dog walking/football mum coat, but I am attending more and more meetings/travelling with work so spending more time in 'cities' of an evening, and I would really like to feel good about myself when I walk into places this winter! My current coat I use for work is so lovely, but it's 25 years old now (I got it when I was 17!!!) and does't have a hood, and I'm fed up of battling umbrellas.

I would quite like a waterproof swing coat with a hood. It doesn't have to be too thick as I am better at layering up, but I don't want it too thin. Also, I'm a short arse, so anything other than just under the knee looks like I'm playing dress up.

Ideally I'd like khaki, cream, or black, but I'm open to suggestions - not patterned, I need it to go with everything.

I REALLY wanted this scamp and dude coat: https://scampanddude.com/collections/jackets/products/khaki-raincoat (I know they do it in Navy, but my mother drilled it in I can't put navy and black together, and I live in black)

But am very open to suggestions as I'm doing my own head in.

So you want a raincoat type thing rather than wool, but want to look more 'smart' than outdoorsy?
Look at Scandi brands: Rains, Ilse Jacobsen, Stutterheim (google for more). They are properly functional but tend to be stylish as well, and some come in a fab range of colours.
Some are pretty pricy but they tend to have good sales. Or do a Google shopping search; I did that and got a nice Ilse Jacobsen one on sale from a random UK-based outdoor shop.

Depending on price point rainsisters.

There are some reduced Didriksons in John Lewis.
