Please show me your autumn wardrobe šŸ™Œ I’m a size 14 since my kids and a SAHM at the moment (youngest is only 8 months old). Want to feel good about myself and get some nice items to see me through also my oldest has started school and it’s not been easy. And the school run is cold. 😰

What are you wearing? Any nice chunky knits? Footwear? Photos and links please!

I highly doubt my wardrobe would be at all relevant to you, as our ages and circumstances couldn’t be more different!

But for someone wanting well made, hard wearing warm on the journey, impressive at the school gate clothes - a great place to start would be:

Community Clothing

All the basics you could possibly need, ethically produced in the UK. The men’s knitwear colours are more exciting than the women’s, btw. (I wish I could recommend Uniqlo for the same reasons, and brilliant design, but the fabrics and provenance are too disappointing these days.)

Not what you asked for specifically but as you’re looking for inspiration you might find this list of brands interesting. Some of them you may know already:

Can’t recall if

Damson Madder

is included but they’re pretty impressive on the beyond basics front. Great, not expensive, properly designed and fun clothes.

No pix and Im
older than you but I line in wide leg jeans and shirts. Trainers mostly. Like cashmere pullovers in winter. I tend to kerp
it simple. I have a good selection of coats though. I like Cos for costs, and M&S raincoats are fine. Also for padded coats for when it’s really cold. I generally like a classic look and tend to wear chinos quite a lot too. Mid length skirts and boots look casual too. Skirts in denim or wool. I just like mix and match and not having to think too much. A good selection of coats ticks lots of boxes for being outside!

Anedina · 01/10/2024 15:27

I have lots of coats as when I am out that is mainly all you see, I bought another one today, a nice green one from M&S, thing is a lot of other people seem to have bought it so I hope I don't meet them when I'm out😁

Anedina · 01/10/2024 15:29

I'm quite tall so I will probably look like a tree in my new green coat and brown cords from last year

JadedFilly · 01/10/2024 15:36

Your new / old outfit sounds fab! Aren’t we all aiming to look like trees, or golden leaves, in autumn, @Anedina? Grin

And like a particularly chic Christmas decoration in Winter. (At least before Christmas.)

I’m going heavy on sweatshirts this year. I haven’t worn them since school but I’ve been envious of DH hoodies for keeping warm! Worn with Lucy & Yak Alexas, horseshoe and wide leg jeans.

TizerorFizz · 01/10/2024 21:47

Green coat with jeans will be great.

Doggymummar · 01/10/2024 21:51

Nothing new this year's except some of the new Asda collab with Roksander. I have the jeans which are gorgeous and the now sold out orange skirt and orange and pink jumper. I ordered 15 shades of webbing from Amazon to make tonal belts from and that will update my whole wardrobe. Ok and I splurged on some Stuart Weitzmann boots from BrandAlley as my previous knee highs were at least 20 years old. Everything else is last season.

Saucisses · 01/10/2024 22:02

I'm older too and my autumn wardrobe now is quite different to when I had babies!

This year, I'm loving Toast side button cropped wide leg jeans, and Seasalt cropped cords. With a silk blouse or boxy cashmere sweater in various shades of compost. I've got a cream cashmere roll neck for best.

Seriously considering Solovair oxblood lace up boots. And a Barbour utility coat (otherwise wearing a Hobbs heritage tweed coat or my Superdry soft shell I bought in the summer.)

I also have a Poetry plum needle cord dress, and a Part Two olive needle cord dress, and just need merino tights to wear with them.

I really want a brown suede mini skirt. Maybe my Christmas treat.

About the house, it's more M and S thermal leggings, my Sweaty Betty after class sweatshirt and jodphur boots or short Barbour wellies when I go out into the village/ for a swim.

pantomanto · 02/10/2024 06:46

I am 52. I have a navy base and a charcoal and dark grey base.

Navy is wide leg jeans worn with trainers or boot leg jeans worn with boots. I seem to suit layering on top so either a scoop neck thermal base layer or v neck long sleeve t shirt then either a cardigan or zip up hoodie on top. Cardigan and hoodies aren’t long length but are fine knits.

Charcoal is black trousers on the bottom. I don’t suit black but charcoal and dark grey does work. Before I realised, I had bought expensive black wide leg trousers so I will keep wearing them. On top is the same base layer and then a charcoal or off white jumper or cardigan or hoodie type top.

I have a navy Barbour jacket for autumn and a couple of navy coats at varying lengths.

I have just bought this from Unliquo. That’s a new brand for me and it’s just opened in Edinburgh. I really like some basics that I have picked up.

@Doggymummar would you mind telling me more about your webbing tonal belts please?
