My GP thinks l have dermatitis on my face, she has recommended l use Aveeno face moisturiser going forward. Please could l have some recommendations as l am a bit lost as their range is quite big!

I use the tube with a blue lid. I'm not sure if that helps!

mynameiscalypso · 30/09/2024 20:12

Oh hang on, I actually one one here. It's Aveeno skin relief moisturising lotion. With a blue lid. There's a specific face one but I prefer this one.

I started using aveeno dermexa when my usual (v expensive) moisturiser ran out. My skin was so, so dry and I had hormanal acne. I've kept using it because my skin is so happy and soft now! It absorbs nicely and keeps it lovely and soft. Plus no more spots!

I had a dreadful reaction to a new serum a few weeks ago. After a couple of days of my face feeling tight, sore and getting very flaky ( I looked like my face was falling off!) I saw the pharmacist in Boots who recommended the Aveeno Calm and Restore range. I bought the gel moisturiser and the oat rich balm. The balm bought my face back practically overnight. I continued on with it for a few days and then changed to the moisturiser. Brilliant products IMO.

I also came onto suggest their oat gel moisturiser. I really rate it and while I bought it to use on rotation, I sense I'll be reaching for that more as winter rolls in.

Does this GP have a special interest in dermatology. I would use something as simple as E45 or Cetraban.

miltown · 01/10/2024 08:23

E45 is shit though. An actual NHS dermatologist recommended Avenoo to me.

tiredbutcantsleep · 01/10/2024 08:28

Aveeno dermexa daily emollient cream is what I use for my super sensitive skin, I'm allergic to e45.

frugalkitty · 01/10/2024 11:01

I use the basic Aveeno cream (not the lotion). It's fab. The actual skincare range is nice too though, I've used the serum and the gel moisturiser and both are lovely.

E45 doesn't cut it anymore for me. Not sure if they have changed the ingredients and / or formulation but it doesn't seem to agree with me now

FYI l went for the Aveeno face calm and restore oat gel which seems to be ok so far. Annoyingly the shops near me had none of the suggestions that were made. Despite me seeing a huge range online and me wanting to start it ASAP so didn't want to order online

Funnily enough I just bought the body lotion (Dermexa - white bottle, pale blue on it) as my skin is very dry and itchy itchy.

Manchesterbythesea · 25/10/2024 14:47

The calm and restore one is great.

TeaHagTeaBag · 25/10/2024 14:53

I use the Aveeno baby lotion, the one with the blue lid for sensitive skin for daytime and the calm and restore night time one and my skin feels better than it has in ages.
