Fiftieth Birthday Party - What to Wear?

Morning!

I'm off to a 50th birthday party in a few weeks. It's in a private room above a nice city centre bar/restaurant. Here are three options from my wardrobe - with the caveat that I'm not wearing a proper bra 😂
What do you think?
I don't want to buy anything new. But I'm not averse as long as its cheap-ish, can be dressed down and worn many more times. FYI, I'm 5'5, 38 yrs, size 8.

And what shoes? I've given up on proper shows since Covid so the only option really is a pair of chunky heeled sandals. I'm definitely not buying new shoes.

Another for the all black option with nice shoes, not trainees and accessorise with jewellery, (either gold or a contrast colour if u wanted to lift the all black).
Enjoy 😊

The black one is lovely, would be especially 'evening' depending how you style hair and jewelry.

Assuming this party is in the evening, I wouldn't wear trainers.

Definitely the black jumpsuit with the strappy shoes. The black and white one drowns you a bit and the orange is too casual.

I agree, the black jumpsuit, it’s gorgeous. I would spend the money on getting the black jumpsuit tailored - it looks too casual with the rolled hem, get it tailored to ankle length. I can say, as someone with short legs, getting evening wear tailored to fit height wise, is the best investment I make.

Wear it with the black sandals - I adore white trainers but I wouldn’t wear them with that jumpsuit to a party, they wear to best with wide leg trousers as evening wear.

I chatted to the birthday girl today. Apparently the dress code is "glam" 🙃

One of her friends is going for, and I quote, "Full glam. Like full length sequins"

So I'm not sure either of them do the job. The black one marginally more so but it's all black (boring) and I wear it for work sometimes (smart) so it feels a bit unglamorous for this 50th.

I'll have a scout around and will be back with some potential options!

You could make the black one glam with the right accessories and makeup.

Xmasmusings · 06/10/2024 19:18

I agree that the black one would do the job in a pinch but something completely different would be better.

This looks a bit like a jumpsuit …

This is sleeveless:

This could be dressed down by throwing a huge sweater above and tall clumpy boots beneath:

Zara 3

Late to this thread but 1 and 2 are great.
