Skin coloured tights

I love the way autumn dresses look without tights, but am far too cold to manage without them. Can anyone recommend brands that make a full range of skin coloured tights - I’m Indian so started “flesh coloured” don’t work for me.

I also think they only look good if they are well fitting and don’t ladder within minutes, so would love recommendations for tried and tested decent quality tights!

Personally I think any ‘skin coloured’ tights look grim.

Black sheer or opaque suit everyone and make outfits look pulled together.

Coloured tights - red, purple, grey - add individuality and fun.

Knitted tights in any colour are heaven sent in the cold.

I have no issue with skin colour tights so ignore the usual MN doom goblin stuff. Have you tried Snag? They do a range of shades and they last incredibly well. Better Tights are another good brand though I'm unsure what their range of shades is like.

Agreed. I think bare legs except when it's hot isn't a great look. Bare legs when it's cold looks daft and bare legs with boots looks as if you've forgotten to get dressed.

I wear leggings just short of the length of the skirt.

As do plain black mid calf socks with shoes. Though not as good as any colour silk socks with an excellent pair of shoes. That is sartorial perfection.

Bare legs and boots only looks fabulous if you have the legs for it.....not all of us have legs that are fit to be seen!
so skin tone tights sounds like a brilliant compromise if you want the look but dont want to scare small children. Im def going to be looking for some.

I'll grant you socks with shoes. I heartily approve of that.

I tried Popsy's 50 denier tights in nude for the same reason OP. I prob wouldn't wear them with a short skirt, but they're perfect to cover the gap between midi and ankle boot for a bare leg effect in winter. My shins are like sticks, so black tights can look a bit witchy, and I don't always want a colour.

If you're tall, be aware they come up big - they recommend their size three for anyone over 5'7", but I'm a UK12 and they're pretty roomy. V comfortable and warm though.

Bare suntanned blemish free legs look great, though presumably still get cold. Unfortunately mine don’t look like that - I get my sheers from Gipsy and they come in a range of colours.

I respectfully disagree with those saying flesh coloured tights in colder weather look bad. I think they look great on most people and given that I have what I consider to be a lovely skin colour and pretty good legs, it would suit me.

And no, I don’t want sheer black tights - way too 80s!

(I haven’t worn sheer or opaque tights for a decade at least - but am considering it this year.)

But obviously we all choose what we prefer.

I could really have done with some thick skin tone tights this last month. I really wanted to get some shorter dresses out but it wasn't quite the season for black opaques.
Thick tights seem to smooth out my varicose veins so they don't look so bad.
I might try the Snags ones, they look decent.

Follow up question - can anyone recommend a brand where I can look at them in an actual shop? Having tights the wrong skin colour looks awful and I don’t trust my ability to buy the right ones online - I want to at least put them next to my legs first!

Thanks @IAmNotYourZiggaZigAhhh I don’t care that much about trends - and I really, really, don’t like 80s fashion which should stay a bad and ever more distant memory in my view!

I quite like skin coloured tights especially with boots and short skirts. Makes your legs look great (see American Cheerleaders).

I think black tights look quite dated nowadays.

I like flesh toned tights…The days of thick American Tan tights have long gone. I don’t understand why anyone would think them ‘grim’ now when there’s so much choice in colour, denier, etc.
