Recommendations for collagen supplements

Hiya

I'm looking for anyone who uses collagen supplements and can recommend a specific brand they've used that they can see a noticeable difference and therefore keep using them.

And if you've particularily noticed an improvement in better hair condition?

I have read other threads on this and the Internet and am aware there isn't real evidence in taking collagen as a supplement but I would really like to trial 1 for a few months.
But where to even start... Capsules, powders, liquid shots?
Boots has a very expensive brand but does it work?

Can anyone recommend a specific one that they swear by 😆

Many Thanks in advance!

I use Kollo health and have noticed a positive effect on my skin.

I do have a code for £10 off if you wanted to try it - I can't lie, it is expensive and it is a subscription.

I’ve been using So Collagen for the last 6
months. My skin is better and my hair is thicker. My hairdresser has noticed it. It’s about £20 a month so cheaper than a lot

I like Ancient and Brave

I just started taking Marine Collagen Cherry & Apple (powder), more for joints, as someone suggested this brand for helping with the joint pains. Haven't noticed any difference yet, but it's early days.
Taste-wise, it is revolting. It's like when you start diluting jelly cubes, and there is this viscous solution, so sweet, it's difficult to swallow. I will finish the tub, as it was quite pricey, and see if it helps my joints. So, perhaps avoid this one, or try this brand un-flavoured.
I would also look for suggestions of a different brand of collagen.

Clean Collagen and Clean Silica from British Supplements.

Massive improvement to hair, nails, joints, but it's taken six months plus.

I use Vital Proteins. Don't bother with the capsules, the difference in the amount of collagen in a capsule compared to a powder is massive!!!! I think I worked out I would need 20 capsules to match one scoop of the powder 🤣. I've read it can take 3 months of constantly taking it to notice a difference. I'm on month 2 and my skin feels clearer.

Thank you so much, I will go off some of these recommendations. I don't think the capsules I got from hey nutrition are going to do much.

Will powders collegen for me. Made by Davinia Taylor (was an actor) who is slightly bonkers and quite obsessive about supplements but her collegen is first class.

How do these powders taste? I know nothing of how I would take a powder - do you add to water / juice? I think I need these supplements so watching with interest.

The will powders one is tasteless in my coffee, it dissolves so you don't know it's there. Very easy to take.

Been using Kollo and seen fuck all difference. It’s cost me a small fortune. Have since read that oral collagen is a complete waste of time, worth looking into before you buy.

Cookerhood · 29/09/2024 21:52

If you eat collagen you will just digest it (break it down into its constituent amino acids) like any other protein, such as meat - it's what the digestive system is designed to do. Your body doesn't know what kind of protein the amino acids come from.

Aoruilia marine collagen, from Amazon. Not too pricey and has hugely improved my hair growth. I was completely bald on my left temple but now I have really visible regrowth, there's of my hair has started growing really well too. Good luck!

Has anyone used this one before and if so was it any good or did you notice any difference? It's expensive at £35 but on 3 for 2 so considering but also don't want to potentially waste £70!

I have an Ancient and Brave subscription- it’s about £20 a month and I think it’s helping.

My nails were knackered from gels and they’re definitely better and I get more good hair days than I used to!

I stir the powder into water and gulp it down. It doesn’t taste amazing but it’s certainly bearable.

Allthecatseverywhereallatonce · 15/10/2024 15:23

Ancient and brave but I would say it takes a few months to notice a significant difference.
