Tops to wear with the wide leg M&S jersey trousers

What do you all wear with them that looks smart enough for work? I work in a fairly casual environment, but need something smarter than the sweatshirt and trainers I usually wear them with. Thanks!

A soft shirt with a knitted vest over it.
A knitted polo shirt tucked in.
A thin roll neck under a flannel or poplin shirt.
A heavy flannel shirt with sleeves rolled up.

I have several of these trousers for work from home and when I go into the office. It's not super formal, they wouldn't bat an eyelid at trainers, but I do like wearing decent tops with them. I stick to nice thin knits from Uniqlo and M&S, v-neck and some with soft collars so they look smart. The black trousers can be styled up very successfully, add a plain black knitted top, jewellery and a suede jacket and no-one would know you are wearing the most comfortable trousers ever.
