Is this ok to wear to work?
I notice some are a bit formally dressed on Mondays.

Yes

I work for a local authority, I see a real mix of outfits ranging from jeans to much smarter, often depending on role, day and what interaction with councillors.

That would be absolutely fine.

Thank you all very much

Better than a red waistcoat.

Seriously though, if you make your next purchases more neutral in colour you’ll feel more confident in your outfit choices day to day.

Also worth looking for a high percentage of natural fibres - wool, cotton, linen, so at this time of year maybe flannel, cord, tweed. The clothes will hang better and look good for longer.

On a different thread someone suggested looking at the Next site for inspiration. I wouldn’t. Although the quality is variable you’ll get a far better idea of contemporary work dressing from Uniqlo.

Scroll through here for example:

Cos is more expensive but if you can spend a little time browsing their photos you’ll get an idea of a contemporary colour palette for everyday workwear. And their proportions seem to accord with the clothes you already own!
