I had a quick google of some boots recommended on another thread and wanted to see as I’m on the lookout for some new ones. I was expecting some nice sensible lace ups but Google had other ideas. What on earth?

Reckon there are a lot of people out there with shoe related head injuries.

There is no possible way that the model in the post by @RebeccaDecember are actually that long - they'd be completely disproportionate to the rest of her body.

As for the OP's post - where is the 5th toe supposed to go? Why isn't the 'big' toe actually accounting for the size of, well, an actual big toe? Then we have the littlest 'piggy' and that is apparently the same size as all of the other toes...wrong!

I really believe that Trading Standards should have stepped in here to stop these being sold as they are clearly just wrong on so many levels.

I suspect there area few 5 year olds who might appreciate the foot shaped flip flops but surely very few adult women would want to be seen in them dead or alive?

As for the boots... words fail me though I have a question... what on earth would you wear with them? I mean who can come up with an outfit to go with the four toed boots?

OMG those are disturbing. I have to say, though, I’ve seen the lady who has thalidomide on Gardeners’ World wear items like that to plant things with her feet, which is obviously a perfectly reasonable and sensible solution for her.

In my world (Vogue reader since the 1970s) ‘creative’ photography is completely normal. Long before computerised editing became the default, photographers used all sorts of techniques to render their photographs strange, unfamiliar, shocking and surprising. And people who grew up enjoying those images have no difficulty interpreting fashion photographs and discerning what you’re supposed to notice, and how garments will actually look. In the (digitally edited to attract attention) photo you mention, for instance, Avavav aren’t expecting many people to buy the boots (certainly not to wear, maybe for display) - but have you looked at the jacket? Or the blouse, or skirt? Avavav use deadstock fabrics from the higher end Italian fashion industry - so those garments will be made from excellent fabrics, and probably beautifully constructed. The trousers I bought were pure wool twill, fitted perfectly, have lasted several years and still look perfect. Bought on a whim, online, swiftly delivered, would probably have cost about four or five hundred pounds from a conventional ‘designer’. In the Avavav sale they cost me less than I might have paid for High St polyester.

Before you start bashing these lovely, reasonably priced boots, stop and think that crocs/sliders have been considered normal outdoors footwear for a while now 😑
