Will my bum look big in this?

I'm thinking of wearing this to Sir and Lady Watford-Gap's soiree at the end of the season. Do you think it will make my derriere look enormous?

Yes but surely thats the point

GalaticalFarce · 22/09/2024 17:21

It's not a very fetching colour. Are you a dowager?

ErrolTheDragon · 22/09/2024 17:23

Wonderfully so.
But the real question is whether it (or rather, your corsetry) will make your waist look breathtakingly small?

coldcallerbaiter · 22/09/2024 17:25

Good for shoplifting

MrsMoastyToasty · 22/09/2024 17:29

@GalaticalFarce Mr Moasty-Toasty is very much alive, although he spends most of his time at our country estate (I say ours, but it was my family's before I married him.).

@ErrolTheDragon that's certainly something I must consider. I do have an impressive decolletage, but I am worried that my predisposition to eating sweetmeats will make my whalebone stays a touch painful to endure for a whole evening.

@Hoppinggreen . I'm not totally sure. I still hark back to my first season when crinolines were in fashion.

@coldcallerbaiter I have never shoplifted in my life. Mr Moasty-Toasty gives me an allowance and I believe he settles my dressmakers bills in a timely manner.

You'll have to consider having some ribs removed. Hopefully the idea will moderate your gluttony.

AgileGreenSeal · 22/09/2024 17:45

Surely the question should be
“will my bum look big enough in this?”

UnctuousUnicorns · 22/09/2024 17:46

Au contraire, I think it would be most becoming. And so handy for sheltering the little ones on one of those dreadful wet and windy days we seem to be having so often lately. It's a definite "yes" from me.

MrsMoastyToasty · 22/09/2024 17:49

@AgileGreenSeal , yes my mistake.

@ErrolTheDragon can you recommend a surgeon for this? I wouldn't trust our local doctor, as I believe he is a charlatan.

@UnctuousUnicorns I am still wavering. My daughter Victoria (named after our dear Queen) has said "Mama, you are so behind the times." I do not wish to embarrass us as its her first season and I believe she has a fondness for Lord Accrington-Stanley.
Your name seems familiar, are you one of the Yorkshire Unctuous-Unicorns?

I hate to tell you, but I believe Lady Parsniply-Brussells just purchased an identical one. Do you have the same modiste?

MrsMoastyToasty · 22/09/2024 18:20

@Kenclucky I purchased it "pret a porter" from Mr. Marks and Mr. Spencer's new fashion emporium. I know , so daring of me! My ladies maid told me that all the ladies of any consequence are going there for their winter wardrobe...so I suppose I may see others similarly attired.
