Does this gilet exist?

Black or dark grey
Covers the bum, at least a bit, but not as long as mid thigh
Flattering. Is this possible? Size 10-12 32E
Lightweight and comfortable
Definitely not bulky but not so thin it does nothing - must be pretty toasty
Not too shiny
A little bit stylish or at least classic looking.
No obvious branding unless it's a decent brand!

I just want to feel confident on my daily walks.

I looked at the Uniqlo one but it looks too short. Some of my sweatshirts and hoodies I'd wear under it look like they'd be longer than the gilet.

Grateful for any help!

And you can guarantee as soon as I find one temps will become arctic and I'll not wear it again.

Would navy blue work? www.tog24.com/collections/all/products/cowling-womens-insulated-gilet-navy#

chocolaterevels · 20/09/2024 16:07

Love the shape of that but no, navy isn't what I'm after, and I don't want a hood.

Thanks though!

It’s never going to be stylish in black or grey. So this isn’t:

Lavenham gilet

I don’t wear gilets but might contemplate this.

chocolaterevels · 20/09/2024 16:20

Love the style and shape of that!

Joules. Loads always on eBay for a good price and often uworn. I’m slim but busty and they’re a great fit as they ‘expand’ - stretch is the wrong word!!

I find them warm but not bulky. I’m a 12 and the 12 works with either a tshirt type top or thinish fleece under.

bluegreygreen · 20/09/2024 17:48

This one works for me - warm enough that I used it for most of last winter's commuting, only using a coat rarely (am in NE), but not too bulky. I find the side split helps with fitting.

Don't know if it will pass your style test - I think it looks classic. I have it in navy.

The men's department is where I buy my bum coverer gilets for Winter.

Style may have to work with practicality, but they are great, inside pocket and all!

Oh that might be the answer! Any recommendations for brands/shops? Might actually just go and try my husbands on to see how it sits!

Nowhere in particular, I just browse online. The best, warmest and bum covering winner was from Primark, inside pocket essential, and there. Still going strong two + years later in a lovely green/khaki colour. No hood, I hate them on a gilet. Next best was M+S.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 20/09/2024 18:39

Gilets are not bum coverers by definition. You may have more li k searching for a long line quilted vest.

Doggymummar · 20/09/2024 20:52

I have one from joules with a zip off parker type hood. It's navy tho

Why would these colours never be stylish ?

My sister was wearing this yesterday. Looked much better in person.

AllMyExesWearRolexes · 21/09/2024 10:15

Try Snugpak, UK company that do specialist outdoor clothing, sleeping bags etc.
I have their gilet in olive but they do other colours I think. Super warm, 2 big external pockets, 1 zipped internal, not bulky or heavy.
Definitely bum covering, the back panel is curved at the bottom so it's bum covering.
