I've been using Rimmel as I love the colours but I'm finding the polish poor quality lately and want to change.

I use Essie, great colours and is long-lasting. It is a little expensive, but I usually buy it when it is on offer at Superdrug, etc., and it's just a little treat for me now and then. Maybelline is also good and a bit more reasonably priced.

Essie all the way! You can normally get it for a good price on Amazon (around half the price of Superdrug)

SanMarzano · 20/09/2024 11:55

Another vote for Essie! It’s more expensive but I find I often only need to do one coat compared to 2-3 for cheaper brands so it lasts longer. Barry M is good too.

neonjumper · 20/09/2024 11:58

Just started to apply Essie ... the difference in coverage and staying power way ahead of rimmel

DillDanding · 20/09/2024 12:02

I have an embarrassing number of Essie nail polishes. I used to also buy OPI and Jessica, but compared to Essie, they’re very poor.

I can keep my manicure perfect for at least 10 days with Essie. I only re-do because of growth at the base.

poppyzbrite4 · 20/09/2024 12:03

Nails Inc

luckylavender · 20/09/2024 12:50

Essie. Best by a long way

Malvala · 20/09/2024 12:52

I have OPI and Essie. OPI doesn’t have the staying power of Essie by a county mile.

I use Essence and Kiko also but with Essie base and top coat.

sangriaandsunshine · 20/09/2024 12:55

I had to do an emergency nail varnish purchase over the summer and Rimmel was all they had in the small Sainsburys I could get to. I've now bought more as I found it so much easier to apply than Essie

LostOnTheWayToManderley · 20/09/2024 13:03

Essie every time! I use it with their all in one base and top coat/Uberlack in the blue packaging. I’m wearing Lacquered Up as I type.

Like PP said it will go for 10 days and I only remove it because of the growth at the base.

Worth saying it comes off really easily too, just Tesco nail polish remover, nothing special needed.

I’ve also got their Gel Couture in a few colours and that’s lovely too, but prefer the ordinary polish.

Cheeesus · 20/09/2024 13:06

Also Essie, but only the cheaper ones. Eg this is £6 at the moment.

Also Barry M.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 20/09/2024 13:07

Rimmel 60 seconds.

TossedSaladandSE · 20/09/2024 13:26

Boots ones but DD has a UV light thing so they stay on for ages

TossedSaladandSE · 20/09/2024 13:27

Actually it's probably Rimmel 60 seconds I buy from Boots Blush

FloatyBoaty · 20/09/2024 13:29

also Essie! By far the best high street option imo.

Ooh thanks for the tip, will take a look there.

Barry M, made in England. I like the 'Air' range, for the price very good and I only ever paint my nails occasionally in nudes/ pale pinks, so happy with wear / cost.

Nitgel · 20/09/2024 16:23

I like OPI find essie comes off easily but I have greasy nails 😥

gettingolderbutcooler · 20/09/2024 18:17

Nails inc.

CatGuardian · 20/09/2024 18:22

Barry M

Garlicnaan · 20/09/2024 18:27

I find Sally Hansen stays on pretty well, I have the fast dry one, and can get 5 days out of it with a topcoat which is the longest I've had out of anything!

I have had Essie in the past and wasn't that impressed, but it was quite some time ago and they may have improved their formula.

Rimmel is really mixed - the metallics have real staying power but the others don't. Great colour range though.

Deathraystare · 21/09/2024 19:30

Rimmel, Revlon and Mavala.

Vettrianofan · 21/09/2024 19:38

B&M sell some that are okay.

Easipeelerie · 21/09/2024 19:41

I don’t like Nails Inc. colours look pretty in the bottle but not nice on my nails. I like Dior.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 21/09/2024 19:47

Another vote for Essie. The brush fans out perfectly as you push down to the cuticles so you need minimum strokes. Also very shiny.
