EL double wear foundation

MalbecandToast · 19/09/2024 18:58

Sorry if this has been done to death but does this foundation really last all day?
And if I do the online colour match thing is it accurate in people's experience or shall I trek into town to John Lewis?!

Thanks!

I’ve worn it for years. It was a game changer for me and I always get compliments. I regularly wear it from 4am-10pm and it doesn’t move an inch. Some people find it cakey or heavy but I don’t 😊

Go into JL and they will colour match it for you. Remember to buy the pump for it because it doesn’t come with one. Enjoy!

shardlakem · 19/09/2024 20:11

Yes agreed it definitely lasts all day, especially if you use laura mercier setting powder on top. Go and get colour matched in store though for sure! It's expensive but so worth it, one bottle lasts me a year!

Skyliner1 · 19/09/2024 20:13

For me it doesn't. It's got worse as I've gotten older, but it's never lasted all day.

Min133 · 19/09/2024 20:14

Yep last all day for me and I had tried loads of foundations before I found it but they all needed at least 1 reapplication during the day. I'd never use anything else now. I colour matched in store though so can't comment on online experience

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 19/09/2024 20:15

It's amazing stuff, I use a small amount and a buffing brush. It's essential to get color matched or it looks mask like so go to a counter. They're very good at giving generous samples too so you can try out at home. I always buy online as there are food deals around . I also use the Futurist one too which is fantastic so worth getting a sample of that too.

HamSad · 19/09/2024 20:16

It really doesn't budge! If you find it heavy, apply it with a damp beauty blender and just use one pump. It will still go all day

Commonsenseisnotsocommon · 19/09/2024 20:17

Lasts all day and isn't drying. I've tried countless foundations over the years and this is by far the best out there

IBlameTheDog · 19/09/2024 20:17

Yes it does for me.

I had a treatment once and the lady started removing my makeup. She said I hope you're not wearing EL DW as nothing gets that off!!

WaneyEdge · 19/09/2024 20:17

I loved it in my 20s, not so much in my 40s! It no longer lasts all day and goes cakey and patchy IME. Definitely one to try before you buy!

MyStylish40s · 19/09/2024 20:18

I bought this for the first time ever last weekend, after hearing about it for over 10 years.

I got colour-matched in store. It’s really amazing and so worth it (although the smell isn’t nice, but I’m used to it now). I then bought another one on Look Fantastic because they had a special offer or 25% off, but I think that’s over now.

Yes it lasts all day, and I don’t find it heavy or cakey. It’s just lovely silky coverage.

Same here. Early 30s and looks great for about 5 mins but soon turns cakey

whymewhyme · 20/09/2024 05:03

It's amazing but as I've got older it doesn't suit me all,

isthismylifenow · 20/09/2024 05:35

Definitely get a sample first OP.

I don't know your age but this is a fantastic foundation generally. But it is just not great for older skin.

This is the only foundation I wore for years. From around age 45 it just looked awful on me.

NormaLouiseBates · 20/09/2024 05:49

It's really not great if you've got dry skin. Instant cake face sadly. My oily skinned friend swears by it but I just can't make it work.

cuu · 20/09/2024 05:50

It's quite non forgiving if the shade is wrong so yes get colour matched- then go outside and check it looks OK in daylight.

It's also definitely there. By that I mean it's not one of those natural no make up make up foundations. Which is fine I like that personally.

GetDownkeith · 20/09/2024 06:24

I used it about 10 years ago but didn’t like it. Got give a bottle earlier this year and I absolutely love it. I’m 45 tend towards dry skin but it doesn’t cake on me and last all day.
the colour match tool works for me and matched me to the colour I already use but it can be unforgiving so I’d go and get it done in store.

I get complimented a lot on how I look loads since I started wearing it as well.

Ilovegoldies · 20/09/2024 06:27

I prefer the maybelline 24hr skin tint. I'm 52 so need something that doesn't cake. It lasts at least 12 hours. You can tell when you remove it how well it's stayed put.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 20/09/2024 06:29

This is the first stuff I’ve had that actually lasts! I got mine in a John Lewis though so no idea about colour matching. I am always sceptical of those.

BottomlessBrunch · 20/09/2024 06:32

Incredible stuff, a bottle lasts me ages.

I do have to make sure my face is well moisturised before applying otherwise it can go a little cakey but that's skin type dependent I think.

Pyjamatimenow · 20/09/2024 06:38

I always come back to this. I’ve tried loads, Dior, Clinique, ilamasqua, Lisa Eldridge, It cosmetics… I’m 40. I mix it with Charlotte tilbury flawless filter. It’s pretty full proof

TheDogsMother · 20/09/2024 06:42

It really does last all day but as I have got older it can look a bit cakey so I mix it with a blob of Clarins 00 Primer. It still lasts all day but also has a bit of a glow.

MalbecandToast · 20/09/2024 09:14

Thank you so much everyone! I am 39, oily mostly but dry on my forehead sometimes. My current one cakes after a few hours around my chin area so I think I'll give it a go, if it does the same I've not lost anything and good tip about the flawless filter - I'll bear that in mind too.

Thank you all!!

It does last - last night I was feeling unwell so went to bed without taking my make up off - this morning I still had decent coverage 24 hours later. (Don’t recommend that though !)

MalbecandToast · 20/09/2024 09:58

Now that is long lasting, haha! I am going to go into town at the weekend and get some 🙂

It does last all day and is a bugger to get off. The secret is your moisturiser. If you have dry skin you need a really rich moisturiser.
