What fabric is this?

Picked a dress up in a charity shop and it’s beautiful, fabric is really silky to touch and lightweight. Checked the label to before throwing it in the washing machine and it says 100% cold silk, is this actual silk, or is it code for a synthetic blend that feels silky?

I love the dress either way but I’m a bit of a believer in most things survive a wash no matter what the label says however if it’s actually silk I’ll be more gentle. Don’t want to ruin my new favourite dress before I’ve even worn it!

I have no idea OP, but found this link. I don't know if 'ice silk' is the same as 'cold silk' but its a hopeful bump for you anyways and maybe someone else does know.

I'm pretty sure cold silk is another name for ice silk - ie, a fancy type of viscose/rayon.

I think it's a rayon / viscose too.

So I wouldn't put it in a normal wash as rayon is notorious for shrinking. Just a cold hand wash would be best imo.

Thanks, I have never heard of ice silk, will be gentle with the washing. It is such a lovely fabric.
