Shaving pubic hair for spa

I’m currently in a hotel in austria with a sauna (which is textile free/nude). I have never done this before so enjoyed the novelty of got in fit a try. TMI but I am and always have been very full bush, however EVERY guest in the spa is completely shaven. I have never removed everything completely but I am going so that I don’t stand out in the spa. Is this a weird thing to do? And I’m worried the guests will notice that I’ve shaved :/

I wouldn't, it will be horrific growing back! Just tidy the edges or go as you are.

I’ve already done it 🫣

I wouldn’t shave for that reason. Neaten it, if you want to, but I wouldn’t completely shave it off. You risk it looking sore and irritated, and it’ll be a bitch when it grows back.

You may be the only person you’ve seen in the sauna so far with a bush, but you won’t be the only one. I have seen some magnificent bushes in Austrian saunas.

Hopefully it won't be too horrendous for you, moisturise a lot and use a facial scrub in a few days to help with in-growing hairs

Thanks It’s okay for now. Does facial scrub really work?

its a small hotel with very few guests so they will definitely notice that I’ve shaved but hey ho!

The thing about these German spas is that - honestly - nobody is looking at you. Everyone just gets on with what they’re doing. It’s actually oddly liberating. You walk in and people will say hello and then that’s it. It was a huge leap for me, I must admit - but then they find our attitude to nudity really odd!

StrugglingGrief · 14/09/2024 07:45

Gosh straight to a spa after a full shave!! Not sure that’s wise!

I’d love to go totally naked sometime!! I’d keep my hair though. I think it would be liberating to be in a place that’s so accepting of bodies. I wouldn’t go if I thought I’d bump into any family though!!

We will see! And yes it is very liberating and refreshing. Although I have a lot less insulation for the cold plunge now!

Oh, I wish you hadn't shaved! Is it really true that all the other guests have nudey minge zones? How sad.

I have alopecia, and consequently a naturally nudey minge zone. I would give anything for my lovely little bush back.

OldTinHat · 14/09/2024 07:57

Just posting to say I love the phrase 'textile free'!

And, OP, I'd probably have done the same.

Unfortunately I succumbed to the peer pressure. And yes, everyone is completely bald downstairs (even the 50+ year olds!). I just wonder if anyone will notice that I’ve gone from big bush to nothing 🤣

Stick deodorant all over the shaved area. Stops sweating so it stops the bumps and spots and rash.

AlwaysKindaKnewYoudBeTheDeathOfMe · 14/09/2024 08:04

If they do notice they're hardly going to point it out are they, so you'll never know!

Really laughing at the phrase 'nudey minge zone' 😂

I think this could potentially sting a fair bit?!

ReadWithScepticism · 14/09/2024 08:22

I'm sure they won't be able to tell, unless they peer extremely closely, which is probably pas comme ils fauxGrin

ReadWithScepticism · 14/09/2024 08:28

Oh, sorry, I missed that you had already been in with your big bush - so now you are concerned they will notice the transformation (not the micro-signs of having recently shaved). That reminds me of me pre-alopecia days at school when I had super-hairy legs. A vile boy in my class teased me about it relentlessly, so that eventually I shaved, thinking that would stop the teasing. But, no, of course. He just loudly teased me for having shavedGrin. Hopefully the respectable Austrian clientele will have more decorum.

Fellow alopecian (universalis) here too! Funnily enough, on an attempt at immunosuppresants, the only thing that grew back was straggly pubes. I miss it too!

Yes, I’m just irrationally worried that my fellow sauna goers will wonder where my lovely bush has gone.

When my alopecia mutated to universalis, @JacquiDaytona the very last hair to hang on was my armpit hair. I'm sure it thought it was doing me a favour but I was just wanting to politely tell it that, no, armpit hair, you can clock off, I can manage quite well without you.
(Sorry, baldy thread hijck. I will shut up now!!)

Don't do this. It will for sure cause more spots because it doesn't work (beauty therapist here). Exfoliate in a couple of days when it starts to come back. Even with that you'll get a few. Good luck!

Sorry, wrong thread. Will report!

Mumsntfan1 · 14/09/2024 09:03

Yes, this is normal in Germany too. I go to spas and run so often use commnal showers!

Mumsntfan1 · 14/09/2024 09:04

Although I don't think anybody would care if you don't shave.
