Wide leg jeans ,these look awful don't they ?

Everyone is saying "skinny jeans are out " etc
So I try a pair of wide leg jeans on
This is the result
These are awful aren't they ?
What am I doing wrong ?
I'm a size 8
They make me look 2 sizes bigger

Wide legs need to be actually wide.
and a bit long. And fit well around butt and hips. And need the right shoes.

Those wide legs are too straight, I think. They aren't wide enough. If you're going wide legged you need to commit to the shape.

The bootlegs look really good on you and I don't think they are out. At least I hope not, I'm wearing bootlegs today!

They're all horrible, everyone looks like a Wish x Abba tribute band in them. And it will be even worse in winter when you've got acres of material to dry after the bottoms have got all wet and sloppy in the rain.

Boot cut, love them, don't care if they are in or out. I've been wearing them since I was 16 and I will never stop if I can find them.

I'm 5ft. Was a gorgeous hour glass.....rapidly becoming an apple, but will definitely get round to dieting back to hourglass......once I have finished eating ALL the chocolate.

I'm currently wearing wide leg jeans, they are wider then yours but for me well round the bum and waist, with a t shirt don in a french tuck they look really nice.
If I leave the t shirt completely untucked I look horrendous

Go for a boot cut rather than a wide leg. More flattering and don’t make you look bigger. Wear them long too.

Personally I don't think wide leg trousers suit many people. I'm short and look ridiculous. My GD is nearly 6 foot and carries them off but extremes of fashion are for the sure footed.

I’ve got a pair of vintage 24inch flares, I’ve worn them for years, always had positive comments even when only skinny were in. I just wear what I like and what suits me.

I prefer a slightly cropped wide leg jean myself - I think it looks more flattering as it gives a narrow point at the bottom. I think they also have to be a bit tailored too.

Although I do have a couple of wide leg pairs with drawstring waists which are a bit more of a jogger hybrid and look good I think.

The bootlegs look good on you. You have a great figure which looks like a slim apple - straight up and down at the waist and then long slim legs.

IMO apples will look better in skinnies or slim leg or bootcut (top can be fitted or loose) - to show off legs more than waist.

Pears or hourglass will look better in wide leg, palazzo/flared from the hip or boyfriend (all with a fitted or tucked top that shows the waist). To show off waist and perhaps bum rather than legs.

Which style is in fashion will change from time to time, currently it’s the pears’ turn after years of skinnies!!

I have these and really like them. I feel drowned in wide leg jeans although they can often look good on other people.
I agree that you look a million times nicer in the second picture.

I can only see you from the knees down.

I don't give a hoot about fashion with jeans. I'm a bootcut person and I will never change!

Not great @richyclit I think you have to be tall, with long legs to get away with trousers like this.

I think it's a length issue not a jeans issue. Need to be bit shorter or commit to covering the foot. I love wide leg jeans!

They have gone a bit overboard on the airbrushing haven't they?

I'm sure I read somewhere that skinny jeans are coming back with the trendy crowd not looking forward to it as have shapely legs which look with chicken drumsticks in skinny jeans.
I personally love a wide Jean but you do need to wear with a fitted or at least cropped top

They need to be longer and wider. My holy grail wide leg jeans are Pull & Bear - they're not expensive but in any case there's loads on Vinted for £10-15.

There's a whiff of Max Wall ( Google him, old time music hall comedian) about skinny jeans. Not the most flattering look.

These are bootlegs I think. Wear what you feel comfy in, personally I prefer wide legs, they look less dated.

They only look ok on me if the waist is fitted properly otherwise I look like I am wearing a baggy nappy and I have a kangaroo front crotch pouch. Some of the cuts are not for me but the 2nd photo looked nice.

I find skinny jeans restrictive but at least I know what to wear with them and the cut of the waist is usually ok but these wide leg things often come with strange waists

I have these on today and I still don’t really like them even though they are the best of ones I’ve tried on. I feel like I have balloon legs!

I agree I think boot cut can look better maybe try them?
