Wide leg jeans ,these look awful don't they ?

Everyone is saying "skinny jeans are out " etc
So I try a pair of wide leg jeans on
This is the result
These are awful aren't they ?
What am I doing wrong ?
I'm a size 8
They make me look 2 sizes bigger

I don't think they look bad at all. You are just not used to the shape.

But yeah, in isolation like that they do look a bit odd. Have you tried straight leg jeans, rather than wide leg?

I like them on you. My hips are wide and I live wide leg jeans but they’re not very flattering on my size 14 bum. I’ve found boyfriend cut to be a happy medium.

I’d say it’s nigh on impossible to say from that photo to be honest! You can’t get any sort of feel for how they fit or suit you at all. But if you don’t like them, you don’t like them!

I’m a size 10 and all wide legs look awful on me. Some friends didn’t believe me and so I tried a pair on when we were about shopping. They all agreed they made me look absolutely terrible and much wider than I actually am.

Can't see your waist in the photo. A belted defined waist changes the overall look

They’re not wide enough. I have a couple of pairs and they’re much wider than that, and I love them.

They're definitely not awful. If you like skinny jeans, wear them. I couldn't give a toss what's in fashion. If I like it and it makes me feel good, I wear it.

Try them on with chunky trainers, belt and a fitted top, see what you think. I love a wide leg, suits me as I'm tall (5ft11) and a 12/14 pear-ish shape with a waist. I'm late 40s and it takes me back to what I wore in my 20s.

Yep, need to see the waist. They will look awful if you try to have a baggy waist, you need to tuck tops in /have shorter top halves so your waist is defined. Also wider, baggier jeans that are less stiff might be more flattering.

(very few women actually look good in skinny jeans, it’s just we got used to the parsnip leg shape on show, with baggy waist line/upper body).

if you hate it on you, try either straight leg (look better if you prefer thicker, stiff fabric) or barrel style legs.

Are you petite op? You say you're a size 8 but I think it depends on height more than anything.
I'm also a size 6/8 and love skinny jeans but because I'm 5'2 I couldn't pull off wide trousers as I'd look as wide as I am tall.

I agree with PP , to me they don't look awful, but I think you can find a better fit. It's like all jeans, you have to try on a few until you find a pair that feel and look great. These don't look that wide either, I think you could go with a wider style, and they will also look better once you have your trainers on.

I always thought skinny jeans looked terrible - showing every bump and knobbly knee - very chicken legs. Much prefer wide legged or barrel legged trousers. So glad when they came back in fashion last year.

I think they look great! I'm so glad skinny jeans have had their day.
