Botox not working

I've been having botox in my forehead for about 18 months now and I love it - I'm not very vain but it takes at least 5 years off me I think (I'm mid 40s)

However, my last trip two weeks ago, she seemed to inject 'higher' than normal and as a result I had pretty frozen top of half my forehead, but total mobility (and lines!) in the bottom half. It looked very strange.

So I went back at the weekend and she agreed to add more lower down, but I felt she didn't add very much (it's hard to tell though)

It still doesn't seem to have worked very well above my eyebrows.

I'm a bit embarrassed to ask to go back again - is this a common occurrence after having botox for 18 months? Should I just accept it?

I had Botox for about 6 years and had no issue with it not working.
I would have 11's, crows feet and a little in the forehead.
Do you always get offered a free 2 week checkup and top up if needs be? If not, I would be going elsewhere.

Sounds as though she is worried that you might be getting a droop in the middle of your forehead.

I'd be going elsewhere. However, I've been having botox for 10 years and I have noticed it seems less effective than it was at the start, same practitioner, same product.

Essentially it's a toxin so I wonder if my body is just getting more efficient at metabolising it. I have started running a lot and wondered if thats to do with it. It's so annoying! Studies have shown that taking zinc with it helps it last.

Yeah apparently any sweaty exercise will make it wear off quicker, my practitioner sticks to yoga and pilates

I knew it. So now I have to choose between my arse or my face yet again! 😂

@velvetcoat Annoying isn't it! There's always a snag to everything isn't there. I'm about to embark on testing this myself as I've just rejoined the gym. Will report back 😆

Thanks everyone!

My lower forehead now seems to have developed ridges?! I think she’s botched it entirely, I’ll not go to her again.

But I’ll live with it for a few months until it wears off as I’m worried about making it worse.

Thinking about it now, both the original appointment and the follow up were so rushed and inattentive that even the receptionist said as I left “gosh that was quick” …I feel like she didn’t really examine my face.

I'm in the same position. I went 4 weeks ago, then for my two week check up where she injected more. I contacted her again at the two week mark as it still hadn't worked and ended up going back in yesterday to have a full treatment again all free of charge.
It could have been a bad batch? It's important that the cold chain storage is maintained with Botox and if it's not it can result in it being ineffective.
Botox resistance is actually pretty uncommon but does happen but it's more likely it either wasn't injected in the right spots or not enough of it. If I were you I'd contact her again (once 2 weeks have lapsed as they can't inject before that) and tell her you haven't got the results you wanted. A good practitioner should retreat you.

Mine hasn't taken that well either. I've already been back for a top up and still have frown lines.
