Foundation primer: worth it?

I never use one but as I’m searching for a new foundation, I’m seeing primers pop up. Do you think it makes a difference?

I'm a huge fan of a woman on instagram called Erica Taylor and she done a post about primers - she says depending on your age will depend what primer you use - so the tacky, matt stuff is for young whereas over 35 into 40's upwards something more hydrating. I'm sure it's a Milani she talks about.

To be truthful I don't use a primer because any I have tried give me huge spots

Every time I've tried one it's either irritated my skin or made my face really dry and foundation flaky looking, so I don't bother.

I've never found one that works for me so I don't bother. I just concentrate on good skin care & a good setting spray & that does me fine.

I started using primer last year - I'm in my late-30s.

I find that I don't need quite as much foundation if I'm using primer but, apart from that, I don't find it makes too much difference when putting make-up on or when its first applied. But I do notice that my foundation looks a lot better at the end of the day when its got a bit of primer underneath it. I just buy an Avon one, not really done huge research into the best ones for different skin types or ages
