Taking your own shampoo to hairdressers

I've recently changed to shampoo and conditioner bars (Nope) to try and get my hair under control. It's always been greasy the day after a wash with normal shampoo but it has improved with the bars (although it's only been a week)

When I next go to my hairdresser for a cut and highlights, would it be really weird to bring my bars with?! Does anyone else take their own? I don't want my hair to get to a really lovely stage and then have to start over because it's had regular shampoo and silicone conditioner on it. Or am I overthinking and one wash won't make a difference?

Lots of people take their own,it's fine .

Take your own, or you could wash just before you go and save the cost of them washing it (if practical).

I've taken my own before no issues

I've been thinking of trying Nope so glad to hear you've had a positive experience with it.

Can’t you just wash it before and then they just need to wet it?

MorrisZapp · 10/09/2024 12:52

Yip, take your own. I take my own nail polish when I get a pedicure.

Glassstillhalffull · 10/09/2024 13:16

Oh that's good to know, thank you. I'll take it with me.

I could've just washed it first if just a cut but they wash it with shampoo after doing the highlights too.

I've been using the mint one. Definitely recommend trying it but there are others depending on hair type. The conditioner bar is taking some getting used to but it does leave my hair soft.

If your getting it dyed then I wouldn’t as they will use specific shampoo to cleanse your hair after and maybe have some that is more specific like a repair conditioner etc. normal cut then I probably would if it meant that much. I doubt one wash would affect it. I love the stuff mine uses but she only uses vegan/silcione/sulphate free products anyway
