Wedding guest dress absolute panic!

I have a wedding coming up and I cannot for the life of me find a dress. I'm running out of time! I thought best to turn to Mumsnet before I opt for a bin bag and a cigarette and call it French Chic.

  • I'm a size 8-10, 5ft2
  • Definitely want a floor length dress, bonus points if there's a slit
  • Insecure of my shoulders/upper arms so sleeves are welcome, but it'll still be warm weather so maybe not long sleeves
  • I like earthy colours, boho ish but no florals
  • I have long brown hair that I'm planning on styling with beachy waves
  • Overall I'm low maintenance, my makeup is very natural so don't want anything too dressy
  • Its a wedding in a garden so again, nothing too dressy but also don't want anything I could also wear to the beach
  • I have a good waist! But also get bloated after food so ideally no bodycon
  • Budget is MAX £60 cause I also need to buy some shoes

I feel like I've looked at every dress in existence and I'm getting GRUMPY! Please help!!

OH and I'm not in UK, so Debenhams is out 😭

Nobody's child do nice maxi dresses with sleeves, maybe slightly over 60 quid though.

Would you count ochre as 'earthy' colour wise? I found this in the sale and within your budget: not too dressy, but could be dressed up, perhaps?

The budget makes this tricky, and it's unfortunate you can't order from Debenhams as they seem to have a few that fit the bill. Any of these?

Zara - midi, but with your height it might be floor length.
Abercrombie - slightly over budget
Abercrombie - over budget again
Shein - I try not to recommend Shein but it might fit your requirements.

Just had a look, some are very pretty but just slightly too above budget 😩

Unfortunately I don't think this colour suits me at all. I'm not very tan and have not yet mastered fake tan so I think it would wash me out!

Love the first two but I'm worried it'll just accentuate my upper arms? I also worry I'll be chilly! The third Abercrombie is lovely but I'm not sure on the material for some reason.
I haven't wanted to look on Shein but it's been weeks now so I may have to.. I like the colour and vibe of that one but unsure on the style, would have to try it on.

Hadn't heard of the other two websites though and quite like those options so will have a look at what else they've got!

I bought three really lovely long dresses from SHEIN!
All less than £20 each

But recently got this from girl in mind - it's not got sleeves but doesn't show too much arm? It's SO flattering on as I don't like my stomach either after I have eaten. Im 5'3" and it's a good length with or without heels

Think it was £35 - it looks nothing on the website but I got it in a boutique and it's so nice in person!

& Other Stories linen dress

I Love this. Have it in white. Perfect for hot weather. I'm not in the UK.

I’ve got this in my Amazon basket, would something similar work? Free delivery and free returns.

Just been through all the options, some very nice dresses! You're right @GraySweatpants that I need to stick to the Petite range, I often make the mistake of buying from the standard range and then end up confused as to why it doesn't fit right!

I love this one @Illpickthatup but definitely too dressy I think 😩 Pity though because it's beautiful! Will look through the ohhello website though, it looks promising.

@BrieHugger That's gorgeous but I don't think dressy enough! It's a tricky balance to achieve!

@Loafbeginsat60 That's lovely, I'm going to have a look through the website! Does it really not show much bloat? Sounds like magic hahahah

I'm actually used to wearing shorter dresses and it occured to me last night that maybe the reason I'm struggling so much is because I'm looking for long dresses, which I'm not used to. Is it acceptable to wear a shorter dress (obviously not too short!) to a wedding?
