Going out tops

What tops do you wear with jeans to go out in the evening to a pub / restaurant etc?

I'm in my 40s and don't go out much and apparently totally lost the plot when it comes to what to wear. All I have at T-shirts and I want something that looks nice and in style now (not 10y ago when I last had a social life)...

I have one from Saint & Sofia, one from French Connection and one from Em &Me.

Oh, and a Phase Eight top. I like long sleeves so my going out top options are limited!

I’ve started to like nice shirts. Got a nice one in that sort of sheer material with a print from asos I wear with pleather trousers and a vest and bought a leopard print one from River Island I haven’t worn yet.

I wouldn’t be wearing jeans to the pub on a Saturday night … (Primarily because I don’t currently own any and find them a bit boring.)

I’m spending a quiet evening with friends - if I were forced to go out this evening I’d probably wear a long ivory cotton and silk sleeveless knitted dress (Loulou Studio several seasons ago) and a huge cable knit cardigan (Marni, ditto). Probably with a pair of chunky brown lace up boots from Grenson. Old but polished.

Sorry - I should add I’m really loving the new season tops at Lemaire, so in an ideal world I’d choose one of those to wear with my imaginary jeans …

Last night I wore jeans, DMs and a black broderie anglaise blouse from Zara.

There seen to be precious few nice tops because the model seems to be massive baggy trousers with a plain black crop top.

However I am rotating a teal top from Thought, a black silk shirt ( Whistles charity shop find), a white broderie anglaise shirt and a rust coloured shirt from Mango with wide leg Levis. I wear a lot of shirts. They suit me.

I think shirts are the way to go!

Agree, I feel like I live in plain and black with long sleeves here! Either a crop or a body suit generally and I have a few different textures to mix it up but still a bit dull.
