Help me find a new perfume

Evening everyone,

I need your recommendations for a new perfume. I can never choose based on popping into Boots as you can only really try two at a time on wrists and there are just so many. So I’m hoping if I tell you what I like, perfumistas can recommend something for me…

I don’t like heavy evening perfumes like Opium.

I find flowery/fruity scents fine but boring and they all seem to smell the same.

I like Armani perfume, my all time favourite was Armani mania which was discontinued years ago. I like Armani She, but find Code too heavy and Si a bit non descript.

i think I like sandalwood, I don’t mind a smidge of vanilla but can’t bear too much of it.

I want something that makes me feel like I’ve just got out of the shower, lit a candle and put a soft cardigan on. Sort of clean and relaxing, a bit sensual.

So there it is, does such a perfume exist? 😂

Zara perfumes are fab, cheap and last all day. Xx

My new one is Viktor and Rolf's Flowerbomb, I always get compliments about it. Took me a while to find one I liked!

Armani My way.

Dior poison girl is one of my favourites, despite the fact that I hate the name. The EDT doesn't last well though so you need to splurge on the edp if you like it.

I also love Armani she

Try tresor by Lancôme

It's soapy yet powdery yet fresh just out the shower gloriousness

It has amber, sandalwood, rose and apricot flower

I bought as I a whim this year (cruise ship offer of 2 for 3 ans needed a 3rd!) I love it

Have a look here
I have a number of perfumes from them. Woods of Oz is sandalwood IIRC. But there are loads of lovely ones. You can order a small sample box to try a few.

Thank you, great suggestions. Shopping day today so I’ll nip into the perfume shop and sample a couple 😄

Armarni She is my signature scent, it's the one people know me by, I've worn it since it first came out.

I like Jean Paul Gaultier La Belle, much less obvious than Classique which I used to wear until every other woman started wearing it.

I also recently bought Warmth by Marks and Spencers, its cedarwood, sandalwood, very Arabian and calming

There's a book called "Perfumes, The Guide" by Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez. It described hundreds of perfumes with some details and insight. The book works a bit like a wine tasting guide, in that it helps you notice aspects of the perfume that might not be obvious and why you might prefer one over another.
The book's last update is 2018 so not going to include the more recent perfumes but it does educate and you can follow their social media thread for anything new.
There's also an online forum called Basenote where you can look up the notes on individual perfumes and see what perfume buffs say about any particular perfume.

Edited

PS My 2 favourite perfumes are "Compliment", a jasmine floral by House of Violet and, "Crimson Rock" a spice and wood by Amouage. Both Violet and Amouage are quite pricey but you don't need much and it last all day and they do sample you can buy. My favourite budget perfume is "Tommy Girl", a tea and floral number that is amazing quality considering the price.
