Trainer Toe holes

Not sure it's a Style and Beauty question, but hoping some of you lovely ladies can give me some advice.

I bought a new pair of New Balance trainers a few months ago, but I've only worn them less than 10 times. They've now got holes in the toes 😔 and I don't know what to do.
I will admit my big toe nail was probably too long over the summer, obviously to the detriment of these new trainers - but can I fix them? Stick something over them? Or are they too far gone and I need to bin them?
(I've since binned the receipt and it's too long ago to return).

I live close to the NB factory in Maine, email them, they have excellent customer service

GeorgesMarvelousCalpol · 07/09/2024 13:24

Thanks @Backwoods57, I'll give it a shot.

Return for sure.

Mairzydotes · 07/09/2024 18:05

That sometimes happens to my trainers. I stick my big toe up when I walk .

Bohomovies · 07/09/2024 18:08

This always happens to my trainers! I came to the conclusion that my big toenail must be higher up that most people's.

greengreyblue · 07/09/2024 18:12

My big toes tip up. DM’s did too. She had surgery to cut the tendon to make it straight but that’s a bit drastic. They shouldn’t wear out that quickly though

xyz111 · 07/09/2024 18:21

Mine normally go like this but not that quickly. Do you wear socks?

Tarragon123 · 07/09/2024 18:22

I thought I was the only person this happened to!

parkrun500club · 07/09/2024 18:27

This happens to me twice - happened to a pair of New Balance shoes, I kept putting tape over them until the holes got quite big.

It has now happened with a Mizuno pair.

And also Mountain Warehouse walking shoes.

I think my toenails stick out a lot. I don't let them get long but somehow they still seem to wreak havoc with my shoes!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 07/09/2024 18:30

I had some Nike air that wore out inside after four months. I emailed them and they asked for pictures and questions about how much I’d worn them and how much walking I’d done in them and sent me a returns label. Few weeks later I got a full refund.

Same here. Also with shoes eventually, though it takes a bit longer.
I now keep my big toe nails v v short

lovemycbf · 07/09/2024 18:45

I wouldn't be trying to return them you actually need to keep your toenails short as possible to avoid this problem

Precipice · 07/09/2024 18:48

I find this happens to me with ASICS, although how quickly varies. I don't think they're very resilient. (I keep nails short, so don't think it's due to that.)

greengreyblue · 07/09/2024 18:59

Always worth a try to return. They can say no. Nothing to lose!

Cornishmumofone · 07/09/2024 19:39

Look on Amazon for trainer hole repair tape

GeorgesMarvelousCalpol · 09/09/2024 21:37

Thanks all, I'll search for my receipt and will send an email if I find it - no harm trying!

And thanks for that suggestion @RandyBentwick for future!

Not much help now but I've used big toe hole protectors from Amazon and they work amazingly
