Sophie in her role as patron of Girl Guiding UK, visiting Brooklands Motor Museum.
I don’t think the teal and brown go together.

Sophie is reading a story on CBeebies soon..wearing glasses! They really suit her

RockaLock · 05/10/2024 20:38

Mary wears this type of shirt-and-skirt combo a lot - and why not, it suits her! I really like this outfit.

Nice! Great combo, love the belt.

all of Mary's outfits on this trip are lovely. I especially like the ant starter one but that blouse and skirt combo is gorgeous - simple but perfect.

Eaumyword · 05/10/2024 22:02

Mary has hit her style groove! She looks great.
Sophie's jacket is too long, the top is nice but not particularly with this jacket and the brown and teal don't work well together unfortunately.

DuchessOfPort · 05/10/2024 22:06

I really like when royals wear separates - not so much the suits but Mary’s a good example above and Meghan was good at separates when she was a working royal. Kate when she does more casual stuff. Sophie above; no. For God’s sake no. That jacket needs burning.

I read that Sophie has a professional dresser. It's hard to believe when colour combinations like this are used.

SqueakyDinosaur · 05/10/2024 22:55

Dark chocolate brown is good with pale aqua/turquoise IMO, but when I say that I mean as a pattern perhaps. Colourblocking, not so much, and teal is too dark.

deeahgwitch · 06/10/2024 05:58

I love that outfit on Mary @RockaLock, the belt is great.

I see Megan is wearing a rewear/remodelled (apparently) red dress. It doesn't appear to fit well across the bust.
Her hair is in a more relaxed style.
She has such a lovely smile.

Maireas · 06/10/2024 06:30

I agree, @deeahgwitch . Meghan looks lovely in that clear red, and I think the dress looks better without the train. The bodice is a bit strange, but overall I like the look with the loose hair, and low key makeup.

I prefer this iteration of the dress and I like the shoes and beachy hair too. Quite a change from her usual slicked back look.

Oh my goodness what a vast improvement. It's still a bit of a strange shape and I wouldn't really say it does wonders for her figure...but it looks much, much better than it did! Her hair is gorgeous and it really suits her to wear it like that, and as always she is very pretty.

Maireas · 06/10/2024 08:06

The skirt shape is very flattering. That little girl looks so sweet!

OP posts:
AllTangledUpInMyMonkeyNutNecklace · 06/10/2024 08:08

Yes the skirt is good, it's the bodice that doesn't sit well on her body shape. But it's much better in this iteration.

RockaLock · 06/10/2024 08:15

I'm not sure about this look. I am not convinced that the bodice works with the straight skirt, but maybe that is just because I had seen the full-skirted version first. Or maybe it's just because I disliked the bodice first time around!

And I have never understood going to a black tie event all gowned-up, and then not having the hair to match. Nothing wrong with Meghan's hair per se, it suits her well enough and she looks nice, just for me it doesn't fit the occasion.

Meghan does casual separates so well, but her formal stuff and dresses just seem to fall short of the mark sometimes.

AllTangledUpInMyMonkeyNutNecklace · 06/10/2024 08:18

Her hair very rarely suits the occasion tbf. I don't think she really thinks about that, she just wears it according to her mood (because a lot of times it doesn't go well with her outfit either) so now I just comment on it on its own terms.

smilesy · 06/10/2024 09:39

I prefer Meghan’s red dress in this iteration but why oh why didn’t she get the boob area sorted? It looks a bit sad 😆

deeahgwitch · 06/10/2024 09:53

Thank you for posting the pictures @KillingMeDeftIy
For a designer dress that I'm sure was very expensive, I don't think the Carolina Herrera dress is very flattering.
I too think the beachy hair doesn't match the black tie event dress @RockaLock.

themessygarden · 06/10/2024 10:14

The dress is just as ugly as it was the first time she wore it. I do like her hairstyle, it suits her.

Choux · 06/10/2024 10:41

I think the dress is worse than first time round. It looks like a knock off you buy sight unseen off the internet. This darts on the bust are (still) terrible and the straps seem to go up and around her neck at slightly different angles unless that is from her posture. The fabric has wrinkles down the sides too.

I can't believe these alterations were done by the designer. I think possibly her figure has changed from 2021 (was that pre-Lilibet?) and she needed too much alteration to make it fit well to her current shape. And although the colour is great the dress was not an amazing CH dress to start with.

Wasn't there another dress a while back where the breast area was puckered. I'd have put a bit of cotton wool in to fill it out. 🤭

justasking111 · 06/10/2024 10:48

@Choux my mother lamented that her boobs disappeared after three children. I went the other way.

AllTangledUpInMyMonkeyNutNecklace · 06/10/2024 10:50

She's quite short and has a wide waist/short torso. There's a limit to how good dresses like this are going to look on her. The designer can only do what she wants them to do...

Lunde · 06/10/2024 10:55

I really don't understand why Meghan got the red dress remade without addressing the inverted nipple bodice.
