Well...one explanation, if one were to listen to mutterings...is that she won't be told anything that reflects badly on her. You can't exactly say to someone, this could look a lot better if we did X without indirectly implying that it doesn't look great.

Not saying I agree or don't agree with the above, but it is a plausible explanation.

KillingMeDeftIy · 06/10/2024 11:09

That's a lot of puckering in the cups. I don't understand why so many celebs wear dresses that give inadvertent dart nipples. Surely with the amount they pay, the designers could ensure a perfect fit?

KillingMeDeftIy · 06/10/2024 11:10

justasking111 · 06/10/2024 10:46

Wasn't there another dress a while back where the breast area was puckered. I'd have put a bit of cotton wool in to fill it out. 🤭

Yes, Fergie's Star Trek Saffiyya dress.

AllTangledUpInMyMonkeyNutNecklace · 06/10/2024 11:12

@KillingMeDeftIy I suspect that for some of them it's a smug thing of look how slim I am, even my breasts are tiny or something like that. Or alternatively that fashion thing of I'm so beautiful/so fashionable I don't even mind wearing ugly things. Just a hunch.

Serenster · 06/10/2024 11:21

Looking at the design house photo of the dress, you can see how it’s intended to sit on a (size 0) dummy. I don’t think that is ever likely to work on a real body with any kind of bust, though.

AllTangledUpInMyMonkeyNutNecklace · 06/10/2024 11:26

Yes. It's very definitely a true model dress. As in only someone with a model's figure can wear it and look exquisite. For everyone else there will likely be something or other that doesn't quite work. But you could still alter it to sit better than that!

RockaLock · 06/10/2024 11:33

Even that photo has the weird nipple dimples, just not as pronounced!

I think a fuller skirt actually works better for Meghan, because they give her more of an illusion of a waist. I don't think that straight dresses do much for her. She has a lovely figure, but she doesn't always seem to know how to dress for it.

AllTangledUpInMyMonkeyNutNecklace · 06/10/2024 11:36

Not with this dress though. It just created an extremely odd humpy, dumpy look. Weirdly squashed and not elegant at all. It's one of my least favourite dresses she's ever worn, for that reason. The nipple darts were the least of its issues imo!

AllTangledUpInMyMonkeyNutNecklace · 06/10/2024 11:37

The proportions were just all kinds of wrong.

AllTangledUpInMyMonkeyNutNecklace · 06/10/2024 11:47

But yes, I agree with you that a skirt with some fullness is much better for her for that reason. Or at least a clear delineation to create a waist, such as the blouse and leather skirt combo that works so well for her. I'm not a huge fan of the straight up and down dresses either as they do get very boring very quickly, especially since it seems like about 25 in a row with that slit up the middle at the front. But I still like this version of the red dress much better than the last one. The colour is good on her too imo.

Eaumyword · 06/10/2024 12:27

Lovely red colour and the red really suits her. But I disliked that dress first time round and dislike it again - think it's to do with the boob area but also the straps. Not keen!

Sorry, don't know how I managed to send an empty post.

Was going to say that this is my favourite red dress on Meghan. She really suits the colour and the style works for her so much better than the CH dress - either the original or the reworked version.

My DIL bought three prom dresses from a charity shop. She's tiny and small boobed. She took them to a tailor who worked their magic to make them bespoke. She sent me before and after pictures. The gaping in the top half had gone, zero puckering for £15 a dress.

Serenster · 06/10/2024 14:18

Agreed RomainingToBeSeen, that’s one of Meghan’s best-ever looks.

Sidebeforeself · 06/10/2024 14:31

Plus I don’t think beach hair goes with a formal dress? I think it’s an awful dress - looks like a Shein knockoff!

Her hair is so glossy and shiny though. I'm not a great fan of the scraped back look.

Yes that dress looks lovely. It drapes really well over her figure and it fits properly. Red is definitely a good colour for her

Beautiful. So elegant, I really love red and she definitely suits that colour.

I totally agree.
Those darts/bust area are shocking on a dress costing £££s.

If Megan, who would look good in a black bin liner, can't pull that dress off !

Serenster · 06/10/2024 20:13

Well, not even a “true” model can! This design obviously needs to be filed in the “what were you thinking?” of the CH design archives.

AllTangledUpInMyMonkeyNutNecklace · 06/10/2024 22:17

The odd puckering is clearly a very deliberate styling choice.

AllTangledUpInMyMonkeyNutNecklace · 06/10/2024 22:19

The rest of the dress looks great though; it's sitting beautifully and looks like it's supposed to look.

KillingMeDeftIy · 08/10/2024 17:23

It's the Icelandic state visit to Denmark so will we see the emerald parure on Mary tonight?

MotherofPearl · 08/10/2024 18:44

I didn't realise that Henri has effectively handed over to Guillaume in Lux; the ceremony was today. I think Stephanie really suits the slightly '60s vibe of her outfit. I like the yellow on her. I also like the photo of GDMT's side-eye - seems to capture something! 👀
