Burgundy is so beautiful, one of my faves and very good as a neutral

Yes I agree but honestly when you go to the town where the school is, the burgundy and grey sixth formers are everywhere. It’s both the boys and the girls who have to wear it. It’s not a uniform as such either, it’s just that they have to wear those colours in a loose interpretation of “business dress”. Some are more successful than others at this. It put my DC off as well as they were stuck on those two colours for two years 😂😂

Choux · 26/09/2024 10:47

Kitten heels like Leti is currently wearing. Hopefully all the royal ladies will start to mix up the shoe styles rather than just wearing sky high heels all the time.

I love the colours of Mary's outfit. The top is lovely but the hemline of her dark skirt being wrap or asymmetrical makes it look like it's tucked into her knickers in that last photo!!!

I'm tired of the court stilettos. There's some fabulous designers out there making shoes for real women.

AllTangledUpInMyMonkeyNutNecklace · 26/09/2024 14:07

Me too. It's extremely boring and bland. Yes I know they make your legs look great and can also vamp up an outfit nicely, but I'd rather have some interest.

I like that wearing different types of shoes also requires more thinking about the outfit to match.

Hello!!!
long time, no posts from me…. 😆
I’m not even going to try to catch up, I’ll just start from here. Love the pink and burgundy, I might have to go shopping

AllTangledUpInMyMonkeyNutNecklace · 26/09/2024 14:18

Hey @gluenotsoup your popping up just now made me chuckle because I'm currently in the process of hopefully making soup, NOT glue (it's looking rather a lot like wallpaper paste at the moment!).

Grab vegetable stock cube, boiling water, dissolve and add slowly.

AllTangledUpInMyMonkeyNutNecklace · 26/09/2024 14:24

Ah thanks @justasking111 it'll be fine - I was exaggerating a little. Just a broccoli, leek and potato soup made with milk, so it doesn't look particularly appealing during cooking. I'm letting it simmer now and looking forward to having some for a (very late) lunch. DH is doing demolition/building work in our hallway which always stresses me out bigtime. Sigh.

Sophie opening a winery in Kent. I think the suit or at least the jacket is too big. Or maybe it’s meant to be oversized. It looks a bit manly. Nice earrings though.

Meanwhile Max and Willem are in New York. It’s either an odd camera angle or been photoshopped to make them look very long and thin.
Also one from the other day I forgot to post of Alexia’s arrival in London to begin her uni studies.

Fred and Mary at a dinner. She looks lovely. A bit late 1990s coast I still like it though. hough. A diamond necklace is needed to make it stand out 💎

For some reason, Sophie is giving me Angela Rippon vibes 🤷‍♀️😆

Edited

Perfect description - as you say though she looks great.

MotherofPearl · 26/09/2024 21:15

I'm afraid Sophie's suit is another miss for me. Really unflattering. Maybe you're right @Maireas that she's generally better with dresses.

RomainingToBeSeen · 26/09/2024 21:21

Mary looks fabulous in the burgundy and pink. I'd ditch the shoes and find a lovely pair of shiny burgundy boots with that skirt.

She looks as if she is properly enjoying being Queen.

For the soup... throw in half a Boursin- improves all soup!

AllTangledUpInMyMonkeyNutNecklace · 26/09/2024 21:25

It was broccoli and blue cheese soup @RomainingToBeSeen so had a whole heap of Stratford Blue added to it. 🙂 Turned out great, I'm happy to say!

Sorry I missed that bit, sounds like my sort of soup! I'll step away from the cooking tips...

AllTangledUpInMyMonkeyNutNecklace · 26/09/2024 21:37

I didn't mention it before @RomainingToBeSeen so it was an excellent suggestion!

That's a re-wear by Mary; she's worn it quite a lot. I like it.

Lunde · 27/09/2024 02:51

Sophie seems to be going for that 90s look of oversized/baggy suits - don't really think it suits her though

PoppySeedBagelRedux · 27/09/2024 07:16

Baggy suits don't suit anyone. That one just doesn't fit, and the fabric is too stiff, so it looks cheap. It could have been really nice.
Also, I don't like stilettos with wide trousers these days.

Maireas · 27/09/2024 07:20

Baggy suits are very hard to wear, with trouser suits it's all about the proportions.
I agree that stilleto shoes don't look good with them. I agree with pp that royal ladies could be a little more adventurous with footwear.

KillingMeDeftIy · 27/09/2024 07:42

I like a slouchy suit and the last time I wore mine I got lots of compliments! But it has to be the right fabric. Anything too hesvy or rigid just doesn't look right. Sophie's looks like she borrowed it from Edward!

Maireas · 27/09/2024 07:45

Yes, a fine fabric which hangs loosely is fine and has a casual vibe. Stiffer fabric, not so much.

justasking111 · 27/09/2024 07:47

My DIL went out for dinner the other evening pre children she loved her stilettos. She was all dressed up hobbling around the kitchen in mid heels, post three children and extensive trainer wear. How do the royals manage it?

AllTangledUpInMyMonkeyNutNecklace · 27/09/2024 08:30

They do it all the time so they're used to it. I used to wear them all the time and it was just as easy as wearing normal shoes. They also often don't actually stay at these events all day long - it's usually about 45 min to an hour. Or if it's a longer engagement there's usually lunch or an extended section where they sit. They're driven everywhere. So they're not on their feet for hours at a time.
