Autumn coat

I've recently lost loads of weight so none of my coats fit.

Since I always used to buy just what fitted rather than anything with style, just don't have a clue what suits or what brands are good.

I'm a size 14/16 now (hourglass shape) and want a waterproof/showerproof coat to wear over autumn.

Any suggestions?

Rain sisters coats are gorgeous and fitted. Sell your bigger coats on vinted and put the money towards a new coat or some other new clothes.

I guess it all depends on your lifestyle, I live in NI, it rains a lot, and OMG the wind can be and usually is harsh so for me I need a hooded coat, with adjustable hood, cos a brolly isnt going to last getting out the car . And because I drive I dont need a full length coat

Im also pretty old and tend to look at Joules, Barbour etc , although I got my winter coat last year from Apricot

However I do have a huge selection of coats and jackets, from the full length caped wax coat to a pac a mac

Some ideas on your lifestyle and what you need a coat to do would help

Rain Sisters have been recommended on all these threads (not sure if we are being spammed) but they look very twee to me. A bit like something Kirsty Allsopp would wear (sorry!!).

If it’s just a thin raincoat you could look at Rains, Stutterheim, Ilse Jacobsen and similar Scandi brands. A little bit simpler and cleaner.

Do you need something with warmth? A lot of the options will be fairly thin outer layers but you could look for something with more insulation.

If you primarily want something waterproof then have a look at Protected Species.

Thanks all, I have a winter coat that I'd warm and waterproof that will do for another season so it's mainly for lighter autumn days when it rains.

I have an office job but not overly smart dress code so it would be for the 5 min walk between the car and office.

On weekends, we go for walks but with a 5 year old so not overly long.
