Anyone got extensions?

My hair doesn't grow. It gets to my shoulders, well just below and must break off! It grows as I have root regrowth but I think it just grows super slow. So I want some extensions, my hair is fine but there's a fair amount of it so it isn't thin.

I've been looking at micro rings/nano rings, does anyone have any???

I have 3 weave sections and nano rings in the top section. I have fine hair. Been having them ten years now. Costs me a lot of money. You have to invest in good quality hair

I've found a salon local to me that seems to specialise in these extension so I'm guessing it should be decent cause it isn't bloody cheap either !
How much is the maintenance and how often do you have to go ?

@meteow you need to ask what kind of hair they use no matter what they’re charging. It really matters. I don’t rate beauty works for example. I get my hair coloured at the same time as the maintenance. I go every 8 weeks and it costs me about £140( in the north though). The initial cost of the hair is about £600.

That's not bad to be honest ! I'm in the midlands so not going to be paying south prices

https://www.additionallengths.co.uk Best I’ve found. You can ask them if there’s anyone in your area that is a stockist but you can also buy it direct from them and have your local salon fit it.

Thanks. Would most salons fit then if I took my own? Wouldn't even know where to start with what I'd need etc.
What is your natural hair like if you don't mind me asking?
I just want long hair, so sick of being stuck at one length !

I've had extensions for 3 years, about to have another set put in end of the month.
First time I had a weave plus nanos
Second time just a weave but went extreme with 30inches, 240 grams in total!
This next time I'm debating between the same again or a secret weave but shorter.

My hair has grown so much since having them, but I was bored of my bob and longed for long hair as opposed to having hair that breaks.

I personally struggled with a proper blow dry, and it is important to really dry the roots so I have a weekly blow dry and the hairdressers and refit and colour every 8-9 weeks. My last set has lasted 18 months.
I also sleep with a satin hat to keep them in good condition.

I'd say as well as the cost implications, you also need to think about lifestyle, my hairdresser has had people who swim lots, pools, holidays etc and they are lucky to get 8 months out of a set before they need replacing - for a set, colour and fitting I'm looking around £1k. For me, that's a lot of money so I want to look after them as long as possible.

The other aspect is the hairdresser will need to thin your hair on the ends to blend, it's not an issue for fitting, but if you choose to remove you'll likely need an inch or two off your length so your hair doesn't look straggly and thin.

If you're in Lincolnshire I can recommend my salon, but best thing is ask around, have a consultation or two and see who you feel comfortable with

Yes. They don’t usually make money on the hair so they’re not bothered if you get your own. Mine is fine and probably just past my shoulders. I have them for volume more than anything. I tend to pick the colour of extensions I like and then get my colour to match. The colour I get are like a sandy blonde with a light brown through it and at the root. It’s the same colour as these but mine are 16 inch so kind of boob length https://www.instagram.com/p/C55hFPqte-E/?igsh=MTVzcWM3ZjV0dWcxcw==
I like their instagram because they say which extension colours they use and you can see them in different lights.

I had extensions for a good 3 years as my hair just wasn't growing. Was the same as yours kept getting to my shoulders and breaking off, I had them out at Xmas time and my hair is now down to the bottom of my back and really healthy. I hope it works for you too!

Doggymummar · 03/09/2024 16:31

I have a weave. I bought new hair this week, 250.00 quid and fitting is 110quid every eight weeks. Mine is for thickness rather than length, I have the shortest ones 16-18Inches russian weave from Euphoria One. I have silver which is a bit more expensive than regular colours. I. Near Brighton if that matters.

So do I just have a consultation and see what the quality of the hair is like ? Not that I'd know 🤣 it says Remi on the website.

www.monroeshb.co.uk/reviews this is the place if anyone can look and see if it seems any good ?
