Have Mitchum changed their formula?

I've been using Mitchum roll on deodorant for years as it's the only deodorant that stops me smelling since I hit perimenopause. However, over the last few weeks my underarms have been unbearably itchy to the point where it's waking me up at night. I'm wondering if the formula of Mitchum may have changed, and if so, whether there's an alternative deodorant that will stop me smelling without going round scratching like a baboon??

My 20 year old daughter had red raw armpits too. Literally like she’d been burnt.

Interestingly there’s a load of TikToks at the moment with young women saying the same, so unlikely to be perimenopause. From one I saw today, Mitchum have denied they’ve changed the formula.

Just to add to my earlier post, my daughter used the unscented version of the roll on in this case.

Mitchum need to check external suppliers of their ingredients I would think. Something has definitely gone awry here.

Weirdly I’ve had no reactions when using the scented versions. And I say that as someone who is quite sensitive with my skin. I have clearly got toughened pits of steel!

I am so glad I have seen this! I have used Mitchum for years and love it but recently have had to stop using it as it makes me so itchy and sore

recreatingthephoto · 07/09/2025 16:56

I know this is a zombie thread, but it’s eye opening. Been using Mitchum for years and have developed a persistent weird rash this last few months.

MissRabbitHasBurnOut · 07/09/2025 17:06

Ive also recently had burns under my arms & feeling itchy and more smelly!
Im gutted because it was the only thing that i felt confident using.

Isabella40 · 07/09/2025 17:14

My daughter was talking about Mitchum and they have changed ingredients. I have been using Fussy deodorant for a few years now and absolutely love it never felt sweaty or smelly

totk · 07/09/2025 17:16

I've found the same thing. They reckon they haven't changed their formula but I'm v. dubious.

MichelleCancelled · 07/09/2025 17:17

Thank you for this, I've been itching a while and I think it's this.

Purple89 · 07/09/2025 17:30

I can't believe this- been using for years with no issues and now started itching.

Gothamcity · 07/09/2025 17:42

I found mitchum started to irritate me too after years of use and no issues! I've switched to the sure maximum protection 3x cream, and it's working really well. It's a bugger to get off though, have to really scrub my pits in the shower to remove it all!

Gatekeeper · 07/09/2025 17:58

I've used the solid unscented one for donkeys years so how come one of their ingredients listed in the unscented one is "parfum"???

saraclara · 07/09/2025 18:33

I've had exactly the same issue. Burning and itching under my armpits. I've had dry skin recently so I was blaming on my skin. Clearly wrongly.
Will go out and buy something else tomorrow.

Ponderingwindow · 07/09/2025 18:37

Mitchum used to be fragrance free even though it didn’t officially claim the classification. They only labeled it unscented which is different and can contain masking fragrance. It was the go-to product for countless allergy sufferers. They recently changed the formula and added fragrance. It is no longer a safe product for anyone with sensitivities or allergies to fragrance.

BadAmbassador · 07/09/2025 18:40

Oh wow I have been getting an itchy rash from using the stick Mitchum - it was a weird one in the creases, turned very dark red. Took ages to get rid of it. I didn’t twig that it was the deodorant, but I had been noticing that neither the stick nor the cream were working as well as before. I now need the stick plus the perfume free spray on top!!
So disappointing.

ExitPursuedByABare · 07/09/2025 18:42

I’ve had an itchy pit for weeks (just one) so stopped using the roll on and moved to the spray thing.

Thought it was just me.

pinkdelight · 07/09/2025 19:09

Mitchum needs to read this thread, if they haven’t already, and cease being in denial.

OldYorkMum · 07/09/2025 19:10

See previous post - on this thread someone has photos of old and new pink roll on which clearly shows that the formula HAS changed.

Theunamedcat · 07/09/2025 19:18

Yes its no longer working for me and I'm itchy its ridiculous pay a fortune still wet and stinky

BognorBeach · 07/09/2025 19:25

I saw a video on tiktok about this today, loads of people are ending up with welts / abscesses under their armpits and have linked it to Mitcham. The video showed a roll on version. I use the spray and haven't had any problems personally but it's definitely a thing.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 07/09/2025 19:26

I use the Mitchum unfragranced roll-on, and dh uses the men’s roll-on, and neither of us have noticed any problems - sorry, @themagicnumberthree.

ginandoreos · 07/09/2025 19:57

I’m also itching under both arms!

Lilylolamillie · 08/09/2025 17:52

They’ve just put a statement out on instagram about the issue.

FoxRedPuppy · 08/09/2025 18:53

Not sure I still have the one that caused the issue, to check batch number. Would love if it was just this as it was always the best deodorant.

Ooh, interested to see this but page seems to be gone.

FoxRedPuppy · 08/09/2025 19:31

I went to their instagram page and the message is still there.
