Positivenancy · 01/09/2024 14:52

I’m 5,2ish and a size 10, brunette. Age 39.
I Have two weddings in October and I’m thinking of this dress but I’m unsure which colour. Which do you think?
1 wedding is in a farm with barn conversion. And the other is a hotel wedding.

Red

CapaciousHag · 01/09/2024 18:28

Wear the one you look best in, of course.

(Though to be honest they’re both a bit generic and nondescript. I’d have thought even for £70 one might find something a bit more … distinct or individual?)

CapaciousHag · 01/09/2024 18:48

Few examples, some a bit over budget but bargains. (All of which you might hate, obviously!)

They're both nice and either is fine but both so wear which you prefer

Red is slightly more autumnal and some
Perceive green unlucky at wedding

I don't like those linked by @CapaciousHag so think I am getting quite dull!

Bigearringsbigsmile · 01/09/2024 18:52

Green

Doggymummar · 01/09/2024 18:53

I would go for green. The others linked I would wear to work, not a wedding

SpanielPaws · 01/09/2024 18:54

Def the one on the right. Green is a more christmas colour to me.

DappledThings · 01/09/2024 18:56

Either, they're both fine.

@CapaciousHag thank you, I think even though I’m a petite size 10, I’m not that toned (after 2 kids) to feel confident enough in something as fitted as the first option. And I was trying to steer away from black because i usually end up at that 😂 the others are too short for me, I wouldn’t feel comfortable and the high neck on the purple one would panic me 😬 the last is nice but again too short and I hate my arms…can you tell I’m picky 🫣

Either of the 2 dresses op. On balance I’d chose the pink/brown one.
I sone like any of the dresses capacious has posted. The black one is ok but not really for a wedding. The others would only suit a very quirky, thin, model type of person and only at an absolute push.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 01/09/2024 19:58

To be honest- neither. That dress turns up time after time on wedding dress threads. I really don't like it.

It's avalable through various outlets. You have screenshotted it at €70. Matalan UK has it at £48 (€54).

The others would only suit a very quirky, thin, model type of person and only at an absolute push.

Honestly, that sentence is so untrue, yet gets trotted out for anything the slightest non- mainstream

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 01/09/2024 20:03

Alternatives? Might be a bit over budget but almost every dress on here but especially the Stine Goya dupe. The Stine Goya dupe is available to rent.

I like some of those, though I do find them a bit bland to be honest and then the Goya one although lovely I feel would wear me and would be too much. It’s not really me at all but thank you. I’ll keep looking on nobody’s child as there might be something…I am adamant that I have sleeves though as it will be October and I don’t love my arms at all. 😅

More alternatives - just about everything on here. They're cheaper than the Yumi dress but all look more expensive.

Obviously everyone has their own taste but that Yumi dress to my eyes combines blandness and fussiness. Sorry, it's constantly appearing on threads here, so someone must like it. I think it's awful.
