For the first time since I was a teenager I actually have enough wardrobe space to hang up my clothes properly. How should I organise them? By item? Colour?Season? I have three double wardrobes to fill.

I have 2.5 wardrobes. Roughly speaking I have one “everyday” wardrobe with underwear t shirts jumpers jeans etc. then one wardrobe with gym stuff, swim stuff and casual dresses/skirts (as this one has more hanging space). Then the 0.5 holds party clothes and other occasional stuff like ski jacket. I mostly use the everyday wardrobe as you’d imagine and it’s easier just going to one wardrobe rather than several. The downside is I do tend to forget to wear my dresses!

Purpose? So Work, Leisure, Out?

That way you’d be able to assess whether you’re spending a disproportionate amount on an area of your life that really doesn’t merit it. And you’d be able to consciously mix up the different moods to make more interesting outfits.

I have-
one half height that has evening tops and a couple of winter jackets
one full height that is half long dresses and jumpsuits, and half subdivided for daytime tops and jackets
one 3/4 height (drawers in the bottom) for trousers and shorter dresses. Also jeans, which don’t need hanging but I have more hanging than drawer space

Each of them hung according to colour.

I kinda Tetris mine to fit more in! I have one thats all shelves so jumpers and casual tops/trousers/eggings.
The rails are organised with tops and trousers in one (so I can fit drawers underneath) then the other is dresses, skirts and light jackets (with bags underneath).

If I had to pick stuff for work or events. etc then I would probably organise by that TBH but I just wear everything everywhere!😆

Yes, purpose for me too. Main sections are work, summer casual, winter casual, dressier stuff.

I'm going to try organising by purpose. Thanks everyone!

I organise mine by type e.g. dresses, then tops, then trousers, then jackets!
