£100 budget for 1st handbag

I'm buying someone their first handbag. Her style is very paired back lots of blue, black jeans and plain t-shirts. Needs to fit wallet, phone, water bottle and have space for a small snack box.

I'm honestly a bit overwhelmed if you had £100 for a handbag what would you choose?

Yeah handbags can be so hit and miss.

I would NOT want £100 handbag, thats way to expensive for me and I would worry about damaging it plus I like small/quirky ones.

I have been bought/given handbags before by family that I have had to smile politely at despite being the ugliest thing I have ever seen and then you have the awkwardness of them asking why you never use it.

Yes as you get older your tastes change and you don't want in your face logos. I think though that as the OP didn't give an age and said it was a first bag a lot of us assumed she was buying for a teen and a lot of teens love the tacky big logo stuff! Fashion is more fun and blingy at that age. I've stopped commenting on things my dd likes, she just rolls her eyes and thinks I'm an old gimmer 🤣

Nah, cunty

I think your language is more unacceptable than a polite spelling correction. How are people supposed to know that they’ve used the wrong spelling if they’re not corrected? I often misspell and am glad to be corrected so I don’t get it wrong next time. Spelling is important.

Two very different suggestions:

Black leather crossbody half moon bag
&Other Stories version and Cos version (probably too small but more fashionable brands)

Nordace backpack (much more practical for academia, and definitely smart enough)

I'm a big fab of Wanderers Travel co. The bags are beautiful soft leather and lovely colours. They're above your budget but there's often quite a few new ones on Vinted and they also regularly do 20% off.

I would go Honey & Toast - they have gorgeous leather bags made in the UK or browse TkMaxx for something

Don't know why I look at these threads - always ends up costing me money 😂

Thanks everyone this has been very useful. I think I am going to get her a smart rucksack which should tick all the boxes. I hadn't considered this so it's been a worthwhile endeavour.
I don't mind being pulled up on my spelling it has never been one of my strengths, everyone understood so no harm done.

Another vote for Longchamp Pliage. They are having a revival at the moment and come in lots of colours/sizes.

myhappychappy · 31/08/2024 05:10

@HoxtHun "no one's idea of expensive" ? What fucking planet do you live on ?

I might seem really old here (33) but I switched to a quality backpack for work as a shoulder bag killed my back lugging a laptop around.

Ive got a lovely Herschel bag in floral print, well made and good quality.

depends if it’s for leisure use or more practical use.

i did have a longchamp le pilage years ago but the bottom corners wore really quickly and my partner bought it in a light colour as a gift… got marked so easily I had to throw it after a short period as it looked so scruffy. Not durable at all.

Please check out Herschel bags! They fit your budget just nicely too

My 21 year old is using a tan satchel. I think there is a company called the British satchel company.
Fits her mac and note books.
I collect mulberry but they are quite classic. Not really young.

Also not sure if you have a boundry mill or an oulet village within a reasonable distance from you? Boundry Mill do a huge selected of good quality discounted bags, they don't have an online option though so you would need to go there. https://boundaryoutlet.com/stores/

I just got DD16 a large Cambridge satchel company satchel so it can be used a "handbag" and a college bag.
