Botox only lasting 2 months

lele2221 · 25/08/2024 17:45

I am finding my Botox is only lasting 2 months at the most. Is anyone else's like this? I've been having it for years and I use to get 6 months at least but now I am finding it does not last as long. I don't know if the person I go to has changed their product. But it's a lot of money to be spending for 2 months

Mine only lasts about 3 months
Do you do alot of exercise? My practitioner says that it wears off more quickly for that reason

lele2221 · 25/08/2024 19:24

I don't exercise at the minute. I don't drink alcohol either which I know plays a part.

Mine only lasts two months but I run every day so too be expected . Annoying though ! I guess bodies process it differently

I'd speak to your practitioner. Maybe they can load you up at top-up time!

I was told some people just metabolise it faster; my friend stopped getting it as she only got about 6 good weeks from it.

I can get 20 weeks so big difference!

Interesting. I’ve had botox twice. My doctor is known for her very light, natural touch but it seems to wear off extremely quickly on me - so much so that I’m probably not going to bother again.

Both times I’ve returned after two weeks and she’s topped up…but I’d say the effect lasts about 6 weeks in total. First time I thought she was going very lightly for a first timer (rightly so!) , but the second time she apparently used more - and it still didn’t seem to last! No-one noticed me looking ‘well’ or whatever.

I barely exercise but I do drink 😂How does alcohol play a part?

DontBiteTheCat · 25/08/2024 19:37

This started happening to me, I was going through a really stressful time and apparently that plays a part in it not lasting very long.

My practitioner tried me with Azzalure instead and it seems to last a fair bit longer.

Happierthaneverr · 25/08/2024 19:47

Happens to me too at the moment, seven weeks and it’s noticeably wearing off. I don’t exercise loads, maybe twice a week at the moment and quite gentle. I am stressed though.

dietcokewithice · 25/08/2024 20:56

So interesting re stress! I’ve had a very stressful year unfortunately- in fact it was one the main reasons I got Botox because I felt all the worry was showing on my face and ageing me…

Ask for a different brand of toxin.
There are a few brands licensed in the uk, not just "botox".
Your practitioner should be able to offer an alternative when considering it's not lasting the guided amount of time.

Scenicgirl · 25/08/2024 21:06

If that's the only thing you have to worry about, I'd say you are very lucky.
But, why don't you ask your practitioner if she's using a different brand?

Where did she say it was the only thing she has to worry about? Chance would be a fine thing, I'm sure.
I honestly find these barbed comments so pointless and annoying.
Fair point about asking the practitioner though.

dietcokewithice · 25/08/2024 23:35

Yeah @Scenicgirl - OP is asking a question in the Style and Beauty forum…why the need for catty comments?

If it matters, I sadly have a lot ‘to worry about’ on a broader level - but my decision to try botox (and comment about how well it worked, or not) is up to me.

Far too many unnecessarily judgmental comments on MN right now!

What a pointless comment. If the only things we can comment about are the worst things going on in our lives then MN would be a very strange place.
