Gazelle Bolds

I just bought a pair of these and I'm struggling with the tongue. It seems too long, weirdly stiff and plasticy and rubs against my ankle.

Can anyone who owns these tell me they get softer with time? I'm not sure I can live with them as they are!

i bought 2 pairs of normal gazelles (different colours) earlier in summer, I'd had pairs years before but they had a suede tongue... these new style tongues started to squeak as I was walking around work! I was mortified, didn't wear them again, returned 1 pair and sold the other on vinted for 25 less than I paid!!

Bought adidas spezials instead and they're perfect with suede tounge. Cannot understand the material choice, horrendous update to a classic trainer.

Yes I noticed the squeak too, but couldn't work out if that's just because they're new. Damn it, I think I'm going to return them. Which is a same cos I like them otherwise, and the extra height they give.

Mine still squeak a bit but they have softened. The spezials and sambas are better I think!
