A bag like Longchamp Le P

I love the look, size and shape of them but the quality of my camel one has been awful and certainly doesn’t justify the price. The zip is dodgy, the corners are tatty and whichever person decided the inside should be white is a total idiot.

I’ve been wondering if I should get a black one but that still doesn’t solve the dodgy corners and zip problems.

Has anybody found a good alternative or do I just accept spending the money and it only lasting a couple of years? I’m annoyed because I really like the bag but the dodgy zip means it’s pretty much unusable now.

Any ideas appreciated!

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie depending on how long you have had it get in contact with Longchamp customer service. That doesn’t sound good at all.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/08/2024 16:38

Thanks. I'm hoping to pop into store and ask next week. In any case, I'm still going to need a new work bag so any recommendations gratefully received!

I don’t know if they are still available but Anya Hindmarch did an eco bag for a tenner for Asda and other supermarkets. It might be something to look into.

These are great for carting work stuff around or for the beach

Not sure who is currently doing them- I've had green fromWaitrose and blue from Tesco

You can buy dupes on Amazon.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/08/2024 21:41

Thanks. I want a proper zipped work bag, not a supermarket tote thing though. And I want to see it in real life, rather than taking a chance on Amazon.

There must be something nice in between a ten pound supermarket tote and £100 odd quid on something that has turned out to be pretty shoddy, no?

I found this at John Lewis & Partners. What do you think? www.johnlewis.com/barbour-healy-quilted-tote-bag-olive/p112169997?tmad=c&tmcampid=7&s_share=jlappios_Y29tLmFwcGxlLlVJS2l0LmFjdGl2aXR5Lk1lc3NhZ2U=

Please let me know if you find the answer! In the meantime, (ridiculous as it sounds) there are quite a few baby changing bags that are trying to be exactly this, I think?

I got a Gweneth Work tote from Day ET, loads of styles and colour and durable. I got a padded type version which is still going strong after 4 years.

Could you just have been unlucky ? Try CS as previous poster suggested. Dd 17 has one for a school bag and after 12 months it still looks like new and is by no means looked after in any way shape or form. I was very sceptical at buying ( birthday present) but have been super impressed. Hers is navy btw.

Don’t get the Brics Commuter Tote - the strap fell apart a week after I bought it. Very disappointing. The best work bag I’ve found is the LV Neverfull, I add in a zippered bag/organizer to stop things falling out. I’ve got a light colored one that has held up extremely well for work and work travel (and also was my maternity/baby bag for a while). I also have a brown one that still looks brand new despite me treating it pretty rough.

I have the New Look dupe. Not sure how long it will last but it doesn't have the sharp corners that end up with holes on Le Pliages unless you keep them off the ground at all times. It's softer and sort of padded.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/08/2024 20:36

Thanks for these. I'll have a proper look at them all now.

DD has a black one and hers is fine, so I do think I've been especially unlucky. I knew about the corners issue, but I was really surprised by the nasty white lining and by the dodgy zip.

This one is nice - not a company I've heard of.

Funnily enough, I bought the Rains one in London a few days ago! I think mine is maybe a size down from that one - it was £65. Hoping it will be more durable than my Longchamp!

I bought the black but the dark brown one was really nice too.

I have one of these too. It's actually the second one I've bought. My first one lasted 7 years of daily use. Love it. I got mine on vinted, brand new for £22!
