I have just realised that my preferred style is surfy / boho and that this is probably why I feel / look ridiculous in ‘work outfits’.

There is an expectation of smart casual at our place but beyond that anything goes really.

Can anyone suggest any outfits / brands which might fit the bill?

If it’s helpful I’m 5ft 5, size 10 - 12.

Current go to is wide legged trousers (usually cropped) with either trainers / converse or boots in the winter. With a plain jumper / long sleeved top.

Just gets a bit samey after a while.

Can you do White Stuff/ fat face dresses?
What about chinos or patterned trousers?

ratherbesurfing · 19/08/2024 10:13

I did think about white stuff / fat face, last time I went it was all a bit ‘Sunday school’ but maybe I was having a grumpy day 🤣

I’ll have another look

Have a look at Brakeburn stuff

Im a similar size to you but more vintage/boho!🙂
This winter I plan on rocking wide legged trousers, sweatervests and shirts. I just love an interesting print and you can play around with patterns and textures alot more with this combo.

Free people - boho
Crush Cashmere - surfy

ratherbesurfing · 19/08/2024 22:17

Some great suggestions here that I’ve never heard of. Crush cashmere is fab but very much (like ten times!) outside my price range 🤣

Off to check Vinted

My Crush Cashmere all comes from Tk Maxx or ebay. I can't afford the full prices either...

Id imagine that you'd transition to All Saints perhaps? They have lovely silk frilled blouses that would go with floor length wide legged trousers. Perhaps with some layered jewellery and a fringed bag or boots?

Perhaps stick to simple lines and accessorize well.

I’d forgotten all saints.

This is a good call, thank you.

I used to wear this combo in the early 2000s (I’m old) but like it. Is a sweater vest a tank top? In which case - are they in the shops again?
