Everyday summer dress

I have a few midi/maxi summer dresses, but feel they are a bit too beachy, really more suitable for holiday wear. I want a dress to wear for popping to the High Street, that doesn't look like I've just come off the beach or I'm on holiday! What do you wear for everyday casual to keep cool?

Try M&S for their own brand range and for branded. You might be lucky and get something in the sale.

I wear long - probs best called midaxi- sleeveless cotton/ jersey dresses.
I don't suit prints so block colour.
I have several in black but also coral, red and lime.

Tesco has lots of lovely dresses like cotton midi dresses with nice detail that fit the bill perfectly

Any form of cotton shirt dress. Pair with series and basket. Casual but chic. These are all on the M&S web site. Just put in “shirt dress”.

Forgot to say that in the real world I bought this American Vintage dress in a different colour last year and have worn it unrelentingly on every hot day when I don’t need to look ‘smart’. Aertex cotton, loose, lined - nigh on perfect. Sadly not stocked this year.

I have all kinds of dresses and I love to wear them all. For what you're talking about I like to wear them right above the knee and either spaghetti straps or tank top style. I also like pale colors. I hope this helps you.

I’ve just bought this in the sale, is a midaxi length… longer than midi, but not a floor sweeping maxi. Really flattering on. Just noticed it’s called Navi, but it’s a lovely red.

I like the Turtledove London organic cotton dresses. So comfy and can be dressed up or down. Not particularly beachy.

Nobody’s child has sone nice dresses

@JackieO22 if you are looking at this Finery Lana frock mentioned by @TizerorFizz - be warned it is MASSIVE. I’m a 12, ordered a 10 as I know Finery are generous, and sent it back thinking even an 8 would drown me.

Shame as I really liked the print, fabric was lovely and light and it was a great length on me (5’ 9”).

I've just ordered some strappy plain ribbed bodycon dresses from H&M. Lots of colours and £12.99 each. Muthahood is great for decent quality summer dresses.
