Collagen - please vote for your fav!

I'm looking to buy some collagen and have gone back over the Style and Beauty threads. A few names keep coming up. Please pick your favourite so I can decide!

I'm not thinking of Marine, Vegan or Halal, mainstream bovine collagen is what I'm looking at.

So: the ones mentioned:

Hunter & Gather got a LOT of mentions but also many negative comments on unpleasant taste so I've ruled them out.

Hunter and gather I can only stomach in a smoothie
It smells. And I read it was tasteless and odourless so watching for ideas!

Ancient & Brave I can deal with in a herbal tea, but I can still smell it and don't really like it. I also think all these main 'names' are probably over-hyped and over-priced, so I bought some collagen tablets instead. No clue if they'll work, but then I had no clue if the A&B worked either LOL. I certainly find them much easier to take.

Been using these years. People do praise my skin.

Vital Proteins. No odour or flavour. You can get it cheaply at Costco - if you are not a member, then adding an online only year's membership still makes it cheaper than elsewhere.

Costco also sell a huge range of vitamins and protein powders etc.

Hmmm interesting. I do think capsules would be easier

Absolute Collagen is amazing!

I’ve used these for years. They make my nails really strong. My skin looks good too. They have type 1 and 2 collagen which I believe is important.

Willpowders is great. Dissolves completely in coffee and no taste at all.

I can’t taste Ancient and Brave bovine in coffee at all. Not sure I’d recommend capsules - seems like you’d have to take a lot to get the right dose? Unless they’re giant capsules?

God definitely do capsules. Yuck I wouldn’t want a taste!! I got some Osalis brand capsules free when I bought my LED mask and really noticed the difference in my skin and joints. Need to buy more but can’t decide on the brand! .

Which Ancient and Brave is the best kind to take?

None I’m afraid. Tried a variety. They absolutely do not work.

Vital Proteins! The most tasteless one I've tried, and my skin, hair and nails definitely seem to have benefited.

Ancient and Brave I can’t taste at all in coffee, foul in tea and doesn’t work for me in cold drinks, I think I take the true collagen. I have awful knees and hips if I don’t take it, might be a placebo but I don’t care it works for me and I’ve been taking it for years. They’ve also done a new one in capsule form (noble collagen) especially for joints but it’s more expensive.

Bare Biology powder

I work in the collagen market and the difference between a powder and drink is the additives in the drink to make it palatable. Better off with a capsule, less crap in it. Vegan collagen you only need 1g a day, bovine 10g and marine 5g per dose. Vegan is much more easily absorbed good ones would be Terranova and Viridian.

Do the capsules have protein in them?

I use Alpha01 collagen, 5 types or something. It has 18g of protein in it

They all are high in protein but a tiny amount. Easier to take on the whole though unless your really into protein shakes in which case I suppose it wouldn't matter to much taste wise? The Terranova ones have other good stuff in them to help aid absorption and other bits so bonus. The other brands are probably good enough but spend more on marketing…

I feel like there's something wrong with me because Vital Proteins is the only collagen I've tried and I can absolutely taste and smell it even if I only have one scoop, I'm really not keen but I can force it down, I had it in my porridge every morning for a while and then started having it in a chocolate milkshake. I feel like it has a very distinct smell/taste and it gives me the ick while I'm eating/drinking it.

I don’t think the Willpowders ones have any crap in them.
