Where are you getting tshirts these days?

All my tshirts have turned to rags over the winter and I didn't notice because I've only finally taken my jumpers off. I need a few in case the sun hangs around for a bit, but I can't find any I like. I want decent, heavy weight fabric thay hokds a shape. I'm short and boobed so an oversized crop can look good on me. I don't mind round or wide necks but v necks are very hit and miss and often a bit matronly on me. Puffy sleeves and flounces are out. I prefer plain colours to patterns but could do a logo or slogan.

I bought this and love it www.dunnesstores.com/p/gallery-denim-top/2561799

Is that a bit slubby? Some of the ones I've just recycled have been slub and went raggy quicker than I expected

Rapanui.

Bearpawk · 11/08/2024 14:43

Cos, Arket for cotton and Uniqlo's airism aren't cotton but wash really well.
H&M instantly shrink and stretch out of shape for me

Greentrilby · 11/08/2024 14:46

Following with interest. I just want a short sleeve, gentle scoop or v neck and not too long. Almost got there with a Jaeger one from M&S but the shoulder seems were odd.

blackcherryconserve · 11/08/2024 14:46

Lovely but £42??? 😳

Sarvanga24 · 11/08/2024 14:48

I think M&S doing great t-shirts at the moment at really good prices.

Some heavier weight ones in Autograph, but good weights that wash beautifully in the Everyday range too, with a good variety of necklines and plains/patterns to suit all. I particularly like the ‘slash neck’ shape.

Lovely but £42??? 😳

I was lucky enough to nab one in TK Maxx last summer for less than £20

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 11/08/2024 14:56

I think the Arket heavyweight boxy tee might fit your brief, OP. I also like one from &OtherStories which i think is called “the essential” or something along those lines - similar shape but thinner cotton, I’m a 10/12 and get S in the Arket one and M in the &OS.

LucysSkyDiamonds · 11/08/2024 14:56

Thanks for all the ideas. I've never bought from Arket so will have a look and didn't think of Cos for such basics! Part of the problem is having to buy on line. Nowhere near me seems to have a decent stock of anything and it's hard to know what is good quality from a picture.

@Greentrilby try superdry. I've just bought some nice cotton scoop neck ones from there, really nice cotton too. Just a small logo which is the same colour, so mot noticeable.

Droolylabradors · 11/08/2024 15:00

Hi OP, COS all the way for boxy/holds shape. Lasts forever. Can wear to the office with smart trousers or with shorts on holiday.

Ooh I’ll give it a go, thanks.

IBlameTheDog · 11/08/2024 15:08

Uniqlo.

Heavy fabric, not very long and wash brilliantly. Size up though. I'm a 10/12 and have to get a large.

Loads of colours!

AndYesTheWeeDonkeys · 11/08/2024 15:28

@LucysSkyDiamonds what you’ve linked isn’t a t shirt! T shirts are jersey fabric, or very fine wool knit if you’re being fancy. Denim is a ‘top’. Quite nice though.

Cos is sort of base level. Though the quality dropped over lockdown.

American Vintage are gorgeous and make one look very chic if you get the right size.

Goodhood Stores have amazing, heavy weight plain t shirts, but they always seem to be sold out.

If you want to give @blackcherryconserve apoplexy you could get the ultimate luxury from James Perse. They’re very lovely but unfortunately don’t seem to last any longer than the £30 variety of t shirt.

AngryLikeHades · 11/08/2024 15:36

Check out Carharrt.
Also, GAP used to do very heavyweight men's t shirts, I don't know if they do women's.l, but they are extremely thick.

Frosty1000 · 11/08/2024 15:50

I always buy urban classics t shirts off Amazon - 100% cotton, good quality, wash well, come in a variety of colours and fairly inexpensive.

Mabelface · 11/08/2024 16:34

I like H&M basics t-shirts. Fit my big boobs comfortably and a good length and shape.

Oh dear, unfortunately I agree with you and have just ordered 3. The Jaeger on mentioned on this thread is in the sale at £19.99.

Uniqlo or Primark (virtually exactly the same but Primark much cheaper)

I've read a lot of comments that current M & S sleeveless teeshirts have too deep armholes so showing bras.

ChuckleMyPeanuts · 11/08/2024 17:00

I have just bought some from Uniqlo - the bog standard v cotton ones and they are nicely cut. The airism ones are lovely but I was put off by the length and the dipped hem. I'm 5'9" and they felt long on me and a bit peculiar. They would have been ok tucked into a waistband but I don't think I have ever tucked a tshirt into anything.
Got some nice ribbed fitted vests in M&S and a couple of boat neck tees with slightly longer sleeves which will be perfect for my fairly casual office.

Moirarosesgarden · 11/08/2024 17:05

All mine are these, not very fancy but good value and wash well. Nice weight to them and lots of colours. Also find the sleeve more flattering than some others.
