Where are you getting tshirts these days?

All my tshirts have turned to rags over the winter and I didn't notice because I've only finally taken my jumpers off. I need a few in case the sun hangs around for a bit, but I can't find any I like. I want decent, heavy weight fabric thay hokds a shape. I'm short and boobed so an oversized crop can look good on me. I don't mind round or wide necks but v necks are very hit and miss and often a bit matronly on me. Puffy sleeves and flounces are out. I prefer plain colours to patterns but could do a logo or slogan.

I bought this and love it www.dunnesstores.com/p/gallery-denim-top/2561799

Abercrombie & Fitch tshirts are good quality, good shape & wash well

sophynm · 11/08/2024 18:10

Arket and & Other Stories. Both do t-shirts that have a high crew neck which I like. Hate a saggy neckline!

stickybear · 11/08/2024 18:13

I've just had some nice crew necks from Crew Clothing. They're a good length and the sleeves are a nice length with a turn up. They have them on 3 for 2 so not bad value.

Also on the hunt for some really thick cotton T shirts

I've just sent the two I bought from Rapanui back as too thin.

Someone somewhere must do them? I'm not that price sensitive and prepared to pay for T shirts that match my 2004 ones!

LucysSkyDiamonds · 11/08/2024 21:41

Thanks for all the suggestions. Nothing in m & S was inspiring when I was in store last week so I have ordered 2 boxy tshirts from Arket and will report back when they arrive later in the week. Will be close to both a Cos and &OS stores next weekend so I'll look there too. Fingers crossed at least one will pay off.

primark - go and look

Hi op, I love Neon Marl tees.
Thick fabric and a really flattering shape- they wash well. Depends if you like a little motif on your top though!

wibdib · 12/08/2024 01:51

I’ve had several colours of the previous version of these T-shirts from mountain warehouse which have been great - the little touch of gathering at the neck was just enough to elevate it from plain boring T-shirt to ones that get worn a lot and that I always get compliments on!
Checking the link out has also made me realise that they have got lots more colours in, so will be checking them out tomorrow when I have time :)
They wash well too.And there were plenty of other T-shirts available

I’ve also had some nice t-shirty tops from Seasalt so would recommend checking them out. And sainsburys too I’ve had lots of their basic T-shirts and they all wear surprisingly well.

I’ve bought some lovely ones from Gym+coffee this year. Boxy, hold their shape and wash really well.

All mine are these, not very fancy but good value and wash well. Nice weight to them and lots of colours. Also find the sleeve more flattering than some others.

I also have these in almost every colour. They don't shrink and colour doesn't fade at 30 degrees wash. I also have lots of Love and Roses t shirts.

I have about 8 of these! I find them really flattering, I’ve a hint of double chin and so a tighter neckline does nothing for me. They wash pretty well for the price, but again at that price I just buy a few new colours every year. The teal and brown ones are my favourite this year.

Sundayschool · 12/08/2024 09:31

I prefer slightly boxy, cropped t shirts. In my opinion vneck and cap sleeve can look frumpy. I buy from Arket, Other Stories and M&S, they have some good shapes in Autograph and the Jaeger section. I also like the classic T-shirts from Whistles but size up. Hush also do nice quality T-shirts but you might need to order a few to get the right shape.

lapochette · 12/08/2024 09:55

Saint and Sofia. Saw them recommended on here and gave them a go, lovely thick cotton. Pleased either everything I've had from them so far.

Hedjwitch · 12/08/2024 13:33

Another vote for rapanui

FeelinSpendy · 12/08/2024 14:39

I wish M&S would do a women’s version of the men’s Autograph supima crewneck. It’s excellent quality, washes well, and now comes in 24 colours (and much nicer colours than the boring navy, black, white and garish pink that seem to always be available for women).

AndYesTheWeeDonkeys · 12/08/2024 15:05

Decades ago I used to buy white t shirts from the men’s underwear department at Em and Ess. Great quality and a nice fit. Not sure if they still stock exactly the same product?

QueenAstrid · 12/08/2024 17:32

Primark have some lovely heavyweight t shirts in their premium range. I think it’s called ‘Primark Edit’. I have a few in different colours, always have to size down.

Worryer · 18/08/2024 22:01

I bought a load at boden about 5 years ago which are ready to be replaced. Highly recommend

olivehater · 19/08/2024 01:28

I like the unicorn cotton ones not the airism ones. Size medium. Am a 12 and busty.

weekday can be good if like unusual shapes.

PaperLanterns · 19/08/2024 10:01

Honestly, the Primark cotton boxy tees are what I’ve lived in this summer - £5, wash well and sit just on the waistband.

Maria1982 · 19/08/2024 11:13

Uniqlo, although I agree it’s a pain having to choose size online! And colours a bit odd

I’m also interested /reading other suggestions for basics t-shirts with great interest!

olivehater · 19/08/2024 13:42

*uniqlo not unicorn!!!

unsync · 19/08/2024 14:22

I make my own now. Such an easy make and I can have what I want and it fits properly.
