Oh Bani that is sad. Even though it's for the best, it's still very sad. Have a hug from me too and a daffodil Daffodil

banivani · 15/09/2024 18:42

Thank you Poppy ❤️

Floisme · 16/09/2024 08:22

Root canal work is normally for the best too bani but it's still painful, especially when the numbness wears off. Take care of yourself. If you want some distraction, I've just treated myself to some Scottish fair Isle knitwear (this is after 2 years of dithering) and I thought of you and how you would hate the colours cos they're proper sludgy. I can't find a link so you might have to wait till I've got a photo to post.

banivani · 16/09/2024 09:55

very true, Flo. Please do post sludgy knitwear Wink

botemp · 16/09/2024 10:28

If you're in need of distraction, H&M just sent me an email about their new a/w collection and it reminded me of this bizarre article/press release mashup mangled by a thesaurus that I searched out when you mentioned it previously. I shall henceforth be calling things garm...

Papyrophile · 16/09/2024 12:43

SO sorry to read this bani... more Flowers and a hug.

banivani · 16/09/2024 13:48

Thank you Papyrophile ❤️ We’ve told nobody yet so it’s hard, trying to be normal.

Papyrophile · 16/09/2024 19:57

Trying to be normal during traumatic moments is the hardest thing bani. But it does help, very long term. Composure has immense value when you are emotionally tattered to shreds. But it comes at a price.

Redandblue11 · 16/09/2024 22:03

Oh Bani, grab another vase for the flowers I am also sending you.

I am pretty busy at the moment so I will not pretend to have read the latest posts properly.

Papyrophile · 17/09/2024 09:08

Your thoughts please, Parisiennes.

I bought this dress, and I am pleased with it, but wonder if I should have gone down a size? It fits all my criteria for a useful sweater dress; I love the colour, it's warm (too warm to try on and photograph this week) and there are no slits to twist and curl out of shape. However, our local branch (still 50 miles away) has closed and it will be ages before I go anywhere to try on the smaller version, by which time it may not be available. Worth buying a size down and returning one or other?

Nice find Papyro, it does look like it's meant to be a looser fit but you're about my height right? So it sits a little lower 7/8 almost full length? If so, I'd be tempted to go down a size too as an overly loose fit at that length never feels quite right to me either and IME knit dresses become looser over time (especially vertically).

I seem to be on MH's good list again, got the mailer that they have the sample sale on next week.

Yes, bo... they styled it slouchy but it is 7/8 length and even with a (small) heel I think it overwhelms. I think I'll buy a second in small before deciding. Nicely made though and a good weight.

Very pleased that MH have missed you!

PoppySeedBagelRedux · 17/09/2024 13:53

I was in Cambridge recently and popped into a shop, Bowns, that has been on my radar for a while as they sell Paul Smith and choose good things from the range. I'd only ever looked at PS stuff on their website but they also sell M Howell, and Paul and Joe, amongst other brands. They have some lovely colourful clothes and a very enthusiastic and stylish proprietor.

yesmen · 18/09/2024 01:56

@Bani - so sorry that youwill be going though a break up. They are never easy.

I just love that dress @Papyrophile. The models hair is simply amazing.

One of my kids rate Kaos, and also I think someone at work. Haven’t seen it myself but it’s hovering around as something to maybe watch. Unless I decide to just cancel Netflix because of their blurb on Lilja 4ever (“a young Ukrainian girl has to fend for herself when her mother dies and becomes a sex worker”). Fuck that!

In line with being an agent of chaos I just told my husband I think we should split. So I’m very bouleversée atm.

Ohh.

@banivani,that's a bit lifey. I'm super-shit at platitudes. I like a positive onwards life statement though.

So, in the words of my Yorkshire foremothethers;

'You'll be reet'.

banivani · 18/09/2024 17:45

Thank you all ❤️ I’m sure I’ll be reet in the end!

Love the jigsaw dress. How long is it in actual measurements? I’ve been looking for a proper midi length knitted dress too (idly, I’d probably be too warm if I’m honest with myself).

Poppy that’s so nice to have found a good shop!

Papyrophile · 18/09/2024 21:00

Next time I take it out of its packaging bani, I will measure it from back of neck to hem. It hits me (5'5") about three inches above my ankle. An inch shorter would have been preferable, but I like the material, colour and shape. I think sizing down would be less agricultural.

banivani · 18/09/2024 21:23

Agricultural?

Papyrophile · 18/09/2024 21:26

Think over large and sack shaped bani.

Papyrophile · 18/09/2024 21:31

It's lovely to handle, the colour is rich, warm and flattering. My quibble is with the sizing for anyone a little shorter and fatter. But it yells keep me, because I can see wearing it all the time, for everyday. IME, such dresses are rare as unicorns.

banivani · 19/09/2024 05:51

Gotcha Will you really wear it if it skews sack though?

Papyrophile · 19/09/2024 09:10

I'm about to order the smaller size bani!

banivani · 19/09/2024 12:38

Good plan (you might have been clear on that but my reading comprehension isn’t the best atm 😬). Now to wait for Flo’s sludgy jumper!

Is what Jigsaw call "compact wool" boiled wool? I'm very fond of boiled wool.
