Am I supposed to just go braless when wearing a backless dress?

Last summer I went to a wedding where I wore a backless 50s style summer dress. Having never worn a backless dress before, I didn't know what the hell I was supposed to wear underneath it so I just went braless. I'm assuming that's what is supposed to be done since anything else would blatantly show, but it feels so weird! Is there something I don't know about, like some sort of taping method or weird backless bra that is meant for backless dresses?

Backless bras are a thing. You can also buy a converter for a standard bra. The band goes around your waist. They don't work with everything but help with lots of low back outfits.

Yes, designers of backless dresses presume you just won’t wear a bra. For those who need something, there are backless /low back bras and stick on bras.

I would say if you need a bra, buy a different dress.

Only if you have small boobs and it looks alright

Under boob sticky bra will be enough if you’re smallish - and will stop too much moving around. Otherwise backless bra as below, or get a dressmaker to build in a bra.

I don't understand how people on MN don't understand that a large part of using MN is that people ask personal questions to get personal responses and think it's best to post an arsey response instead.

@AllyMcdonald I think you don’t realise that sometimes people are seeking real-life experiences and genuine answers because life isn’t black-and-white. You can’t find every answer on Google. Unfortunately, I don’t believe you understand this. Firm response from mumsnet is necessary and appreciated. Please consider this before being judgmental.”

Hello, despite the deleted posts on here I hope someone can recommend a push up solution for small boobs in a backless dress with cowel drapey front?
Sticky tape? Any specific brand people can recommend please? Thank you.
