Collars on everything this year!

I don’t like collars on me. They seem to be on everything this summer. I see a dress I like, look at it closely and there’s a collar at the top. So annoying and a waste of extra fabric.
Does anyone in the know, know when this will stop? It’s a waste of fabric and doesn’t look particularly nice.

I love a collar, keeps my next warm, allows a v neck.

I'm a collar hacker, especially with charity shop purchases. Collars look terrible on me and I find them uncomfy (ie traditional shirt collar) so I cut them off.

I mean little soft floppy collars, nothing that could keep you warm. To me they look unfeminine.

I know what you mean I always imagine people will think I'm channeling Harry Hill.

I've got it in my head I have a very short neck but when I've worn a collar recently I look better than I imagine

I'm mystified. Collars on everything where? We must be looking at different collections.

I have noticed more collars this year, true, and was quite pleased to see the variety. But I've just bought seven dresses; only one has a collar Confused

Better than a mandarin collar, which I keep buying things with by accident. I then decide to keep them but they’re hard to put a necklace with.

Im not sure what we are talking about....just like a normal shirt collar?

Personally I love a shirt dress i find them really flattering on me. I stay away from those high round necked necklines....makes me feel like a soccer mom.

MiddleAgedDread · 07/08/2024 19:58

Ooh where? I also love a shirt dress!

I'm currently mystified by several threads. Some of my dresses have collars, some don't.

I noticed because I’ve looked for dresses in every shop on the High street and there are way more collars this year than normal. I don’t suit many dresses so when I see one in what might be the right shape then see a collar on it, it’s annoying.

I've just looked at Nobody's Child, Anthropologie, Zara and H & M's websites. Hardly a collar to be seen.

JaneJeffer · 08/08/2024 00:37

Everything I look at has a really low v neck or those horrible notch things on the collar

It’s in physical shops. Websites have bigger collections. Trust me- there are collars all over the shop.

I feel the same about the big flouncy frills at the bottom of dresses and skirts OP. I’ve been waiting for them to go away for years now. Still waiting.
