Child’s hair advice needed

I’ve got two daughter with long, slightly wavy hair. One child’s hair is lovely and silky, doesn’t get knotty, she could leave it down all day and night and a brush would easily run through it.
the younger child’s hair is just so knotty. I brush every single knot out and within an hour it’s like I’d never even brushed it

any advice on what products I should be using. Currently just use 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner. She’s 7. I’ve had it cut regularly and it still feels coarse and knotty.

please help!

My second dd is like this and I don't really ever leave it down for her, I have it in some form of plait most days.

Oh, and definitely a decent shampoo and conditioner rather than 2 in 1, with a leave in conditioner too.

I have one DD like this. I've learnt to embrace her waves and loosely follow the curly girl method i.e

Don't bush hair when it's dry, only when wet
Use a curl gel to define waves
Plait or bun at bedtime

It's so much better now!

She’s almost always got it in plaits

if you only brush when wet would you spray it to just brush of a morning?

ill look up the curly girl method, thanks

I spray in a revlon detangler/ leave in conditioner every time i brush and style my dd hair.. I also plait it for bed to make it easier to brush in morning and if it's not in plaits in the day I do a pony tail but not a loose one I add more bands in so it's not loose to get tangled!

Silk pillowcase might help a bit.

Sounds like it’s curly hair. Won’t get sleek and silky like other DD’s hair. Try products for curly hair if you don’t want to do curly girl method. Never brush dry!

I always brush it dry! This sounds like my biggest mistake.
Will get some leave in conditioner too

It's so hard to not brush the hair when dry as you instinctively do it! I always have a water spray bottle handy in the morning when brushing hair, but generally just finger comb it.
