Backpack that opens at the front

I really need a decent small/medium backpack that I can use everyday & that looks presentable (so the usual sporty ones I'd go for don't really suit).

It needs to fit the usual stuff, plus a kindle & a water bottle.

It also needs to open at the front rather than the top as I can never find anything easily! (This is a bit of a sticking point)

I've had a Mia tui Maya bag before which was ok size-wise but I've gone off the look/shape of that.

Any suggestions please?

Have you had a look at some of the Ecosusi bags? I have a few of theirs and they're great. Some good sales on them sometimes too! Cambridge Satchel Company are good too but a bit dearer.

Thanks - I did look at the kanken but it's the front opening bit that I really want so I ruled it out.

It does open at the front. The whole front of it unzips. This means you can lay it on a table or floor and complete open it up if you want to find something at a glance, or just half way if you haven't got somewhere to lay it down.

Those are definitely the right shape! I'll see if I can find them in store.

Do ensure it can be securely fastened (maybe with a small padlock) as those backpacks are easily accessible for thieves, especially when standing on a train, tube, bus or queue.

I have this old leather Ashwood backpack , zips all the way down and has 2 further pockets - so easy to use .
