Skin purging??

Sorry for the attached image. A couple of days I ‘upped’ my skincare routine and spots I already had have got worse. I read online about skin purging but really confused if that’s what’s happening and to wait it out or if it’s just a reaction to and to stop. Anyone experience similar?

Skin purging??

I don't know about skin purging, but I know my skin always gets worse when I make an effort to look after it "properly".

I've finally decided keeping it simple is the answer and cleanse with aqueous cream and a warm flannel, followed by the basic Olay moisturiser or E45. Skin has never been better.

think you’re onto something there.. just annoyed that I’ve wasted money on the products.. oh well, lesson learnt - simple is best

What did you up your routine to include? Purging would normally be an issue with retinoids (and maybe acids?) that speed up your skin cell turnover. Other types shouldn't really cause purging as such, but if it's just spots you already had I wouldn't panic yet

If it's where you normally get spots it's purging, if it's a new area it's a breakout. The good news is if it's purging it'll get better in 4-6 weeks

No retinoids but a couple of serums that have a few acids in them between them so could be that

It’s never a good idea to introduce more than 1 new product at a time. Introduce 1 at a time and give it 28 days which is a full skin cycle. That way can can see if it works or reacts with your skin.

If I were you, I’d go back to basics. Just cleanser, moisturiser and SPF and introduce products slowly. Simple isn’t necessarily best for everyone but you do need to slowly work out what products your skin needs.

I purged when I first started with tret and that is absolutely normal. Here is my routine that I follow:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
la roche posay spf
Evening:
la roche posay moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel
