Help! Thoughts on a good foundation

I need you lovely people's advice on what is your favourite foundation.
I've always used the cheaper Rimmel or Loreal foundations but I'm finding I can see the texture of my skin, like it makes my skin look worse!
I have plenty of Boots points saved up so I'm thinking you know what, treat myself to something better!
What's your go to foundation and make up routine?

I'm mid 50s. My fave high street one is Boots No & Hydraluminous - I get lots of compliments in this one and it looks good on Zoom too!

I just treated myself to Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin, but haven't tried it yet as I've barely left the house!

Erborian CC cream. Like your skin, but better - does not look caked

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 29/07/2024 14:26

I've been using Max Factor Facefinity compact applied with a buffer brush, lovely stuff.

I also use Boots No 7 Hydraluminous - I used to use Estee Lauder Double Wear Light, but honestly didn't see a huge difference at twice the price.

(Making sure you've a well moisturised base is half the battle I think!)

Another vote for Erborian CC cream. I use the green tube which helps with redness. Glides on and just dials everything down. It's pricey but a tube lasts one for ages as I only use a tiny bit. I also use glossier future dew, use a dot on my cheek bones. A decent skincare routine is the most important thing.

I'm another using Erborian CC cream. As I get older I find a lighter foundation suits me better and doesn't sit in wrinkles.
I also use Benefit Porefessional over my nose and chin and set with elf Perfect Finish HD powder.

Definitely this. I use a Primark dupe of MAC Strobe Cream and dot a tiny bit on the tip of my chin, down the middle of my nose, cupid's bow, cheek bones and on the middle of my forehead.
I find that makes a big difference and the foundation looks much more natural.
For special occasions I use Armani Luminous Silk instead of the Erborian.

Armani luminous silk is the best I've found. Its around £35

shardlakem · 30/07/2024 09:52

I started using estee lauder double wear at my wedding several years ago and have never looked back! it lasts all day, never cakey, stays on in the heat, one bottle lasts absolutely ages too so even though it is very expensive you barely need any, apply with a damp sponge.

DecafDodger · 30/07/2024 13:41

I don't get along with Luminous Silk at all, goes on super thick for me and sits in pores. Chanel Les Beiges, the one with those tiny pearls is good for mature skin though.

millymoo1202 · 30/07/2024 15:06

I rate nars and Dior all luminous but I’ve just bought a yslskin tint on DD recommendation and love it. I’m 52 if that makes a difference. I have used double west years ago but far too thick now

Scaredycat259 · 30/07/2024 17:24

Thanks everyone, I will have a look at all of these 😊.

I’ve recently started using Lisa Eldridge Seamless Skin Enhancing Tint. It’s incredible and I only use two drops a day so it’s going to last me forever. Highly recommended. It’s not too shiny. Am not a fan of the shiny face trend.

StormingNorman · 30/07/2024 17:34

Charlotte Tilbury and Hourglass. Second Chanel Les Beiges too.
