Face products overkill

I am trying to sort out my life (in many ways!) and have some vouchers to spend. I love the Strivectin products I have, I love oils and I've found cheap hyaleuronic acid serums work well and want to buy some nice face care...

But I don't know what order to put all these things on and tbh I'm just randomly doing it 🤣

So at night I put a vitamin C serum (Sali Hughes at revolution) then moisturiser, then later when I get into bed I put the lovely Face Blanket oil on. My (much more make up/ skincare savvy) friend was horrified and said I can't use oil after those things. In the morning I put moisturiser and suncream.

Anyway...

What order do you put on the things I want to use:
Something to halt wrinkles
Hyaleuronic acid
Moisturiser
Face oil?

My skin is pretty good for my age, some light wrinkles round eyes only so far. I'm nearly 50. I never wear make up really- some cover up and mascara if a big event. I've not really used face products until I hit 40... although I use Heliocare sun cream every day and have for 20 years as have lived in a tropical climate for 18 years. Now in the UK, I need a lot more moisture as it's so dry here. I don't know whether I should be using some more intense anti wrinkles or moisturising stuff.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks!

Sorry have re-read and it's so rambling! Basically

  1. What stuff do I need?
and
  1. What order do I apply it?

I save vitamin C for daytime.

I use a lightweight oil but usually instead of moisturiser during cold windy winter days. If I was using both oil and moisturiser I'd use a lighter oil before or a heavier oil after moisturiser. So I suppose it depends on whether yours sinks in or sits on the skin holding the moisture in. Basically you go lightest product to heaviest.

My routine tends to go cleanser, toner, serum, oil or moisturiser. In the morning I use a vitamin c serum. In the evening I use either an azelaic acid serum or a moisturising serum depending on my skin.

For wrinkles you could use a retinol serum in the evening and use your vitamin c in the morning. I don't use retinol because my skin doesn't get on well with it but most people see great results.

Morning I cleanse with a reusable cloth, occasionally cleanse and polish.
Hyaluronic acid serum
Either day cream or sunscreen.

Evening as morning
But tret instead of serum
Night cream.

I'm 60 and still have minor wrinkles

What's tret please? Thanks!

There’s nothing wrong with what you’re doing: serum, moisturiser then oil last is the right order. Don’t know what your friend is upset about.
Tret is short for tretinoin, an extremely strong exfoliator that is very popular on S&B. I’m pretty sure you need a prescription for it.
You might think about alternating your Vitamin C serum with an exfoliant three times a week/ every other night depending on how your skin takes to it. Lots of people like retinol, but glycolic or lactic acid will do the trick. The Ordinary makes a nice cheap glycolic acid.
